Hotpoint FFA70S fridge drain blocked

The drain at the back of the fridage has become blocked. I have tried to unblock by pushing a piece of wire down the outlet but still no joy. Is this anything I can buy to unblock (like sink pipe unblockers) or can I get to this pipe (it is not exposed at the back of the fridge until the drain at the bottom of the freezer).

thanks

Thanks for this, I've tried poking a wire down the hole quite far and it comes to a hard stop. This would suggest a blockage quite far down so not sure such a device (i.e. snake would help).

Difficult to see how to unblock unless I can really get at the pipe itself.

PEACE,
ngfam1 at your service,
Do not use sink chemicals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the hard ware stores or home depot they have small short,
snakes that are flexible and thin that can go in the hole to clear it!
Tell the home depot guy to help you find what I'm
telling you to buy!Print this out and show him what I spoke of!
Bless you,

Hi our CB18M/1c/FAN keeps gathering water under the salad trays please advice thankyou

You say it runs down the channels.
Is their a drain hole at the bottom?
If the drain hole is blocked then you will need to unblock it using compressed air or a thin piece of medium flexible wire.
It should drain to a pan near the compressor and evaporaste from
there. Sometimes a loose particle of food can block the drain, usually at the back lower position of the fridge.

you can dampen a small part of folded to 1/2" wide paper towel, and wrap the dampened paper towel around the end of a straw, stick that in the drain hole and blow.

Water comes in from top under freezer and I get a lot of water in ther drawers and it come out onto the floor from the inside of the refrigerator

you have a plugged drain.take out all the food in the freezer, unplug the machine, remove the ice maker and the back inside wall of the freezer.hit the ice on the floor and crack out as much of it as you can with a plyers or easily with a hammer, then melt out the rest with a hair dryer.once you melt out the ice now you have to free up the drain.you'll see a hole under the evap coil, when the heater comes on the ice melts off the coil and drains through thhe hole down to the bottom where it evaporates from the heat of the compressor and condenser coil.your drain is blocked and the water can't drain down.i use a steemer to clear out the drain but if you don't have a steemer you can try a turkey baster or any thing that will push air down the drain to clear it.when you think it's clear pour hot water into the hole,if it drains down you cleared it if not, blow hot air down the hole with the hair dryer thhen try the baster until you free it.when it's clear if you have like a 6 inch piece of house electrical wire or a cable wire strip it down to the copper wire, stick it into the hole and wrap the other end around the heater, this way when the heater comes on the wire will heat up stopping the drain from freezing up so it can't block up any more.let me know how you make out

Clogged drain line, water build up inside food compartment

if lucky you can unblock it with a wire coat hanger, just unravel hanger and push down drain hole.

this does not work pull fridge out and u will see the hose running down to the dissapeter, remove it and clean

if you cant see hose at back it is internal and cannot be taken out

find hole above compressor where water comes from and try to unbock from bottom using coat hanger

if blocked with ice at bottom usually means insulation has broken down...new fridge needed

The hole that drains water away at back of fridge is blocked

Ok you need to defrost this unit eg unplug and leave all doors open for 48 hours then get some "flexy curtain wire (white plastic coated, used for hanging net curtains) this wire is perfect for getting up or down the fridge drain.

This will work in most all cases of this type. You need a piece of copper wire, 14 guage, 12 to 16 inches. You can shortin it as you need to Turnoff the power to the fridge. Rap one end of the wire around the evaprorator heater and feed the othe end down the drain tube. This wire will heat up when the heater comes on and will supply heat down into the drain tube hopefully preventing the drain from freezing.
