Hello, have Vista Home Basic. I just installed a Sapphire Radeon 7000 - Graphics Adapter - Radeon 7000 - PCI - 64 MB Problem: When I plug the monitor into the Radeon 7000, I get a black screen. If I plug the monitor into the original, then the monitor works. I have uninstalled, started/restarted....... But still does not work. Thanks

Does the box say it is supported? These new 64-bit systems are still just getting going.
I tried xp64 but switched back because most of my hardware would not work.

Did it ever work? again alot of stuff is done with the 64 bit opsys.

Go into the bios, and make the new board the primary display.
In my experience, ATI needs to be primary. Just switch to PCI Primary.

If you haven't done this yet, you probably need to uninstall the software, too.
so it can setup correctly.

Does the Sapphire card need to fit perfectly in all the slots on my motherboard

Hello
The Video card will only fit in the pci express slot on your motherboard.

Usually there is a small latch that needs to be pulled down, then insert the card then pull latch up.

AGP texture acceleration not avalable :(

That is because your system does not meet the minimum requirements to enable it. Your prblem is with the graphics adapter agp - Axcellerated Graphics Port, YOu will need to have a compatable Graphics Card to do it along with a processor at least 1.66 ghz

Well your card is still an ATI & things have changed a bit. You don't just need the drivers but you need ATI's Catalyst Control Center. Through the Catalyst Control Center you have a ton of control that you just don't get with drivers alone. Suggest you update windows first. You'll need .Net framework 2.0 min. Do not skip lower versions of .Net framework & only install one at a time. Install DirectX 9.0c from Microsoft here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/Browse.aspx?displaylang=en&categoryid=2
Than download ATI's Catalyst Software Suite File size 46.6MB:
http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeon-prer300-xp.html
Uninstall any other versions currently installed on your system.
If for what ever reason the uninstall fails download and run ATI's uninstaller "cat-uninstaller.exe" to clean your system from here:
