Universal serial bus controllers

Hi Ekse,

Following on from my question yesterday, if I uninstall the Universal serial bus controllers, will it affect any other part of my computer, e.g. lose files programms etc.

As you can see I am not a 'WIZ' with computers and I am afraid I will lose any of my or my daughters work.

Many thanks
Josie

Hey, no need to pay everytime, the usb ports will get reinstalled after the pc is restarted, you wont loose anything at all.

if you want to make sure, you could copy your work into a usb stick for the duration for example. but its almost impossible for anything to go wrong during that process.

Will not work in usb 2.0 but will work in usb 1.0

Connect the Player to the USB 2.0 port on the Comptuer then open the Device Manager and expand the "universal serial bus controllers" category.
Under the serial bus controller category, check if there is any exclamation mark visible. If there is any then right click on it and select Uninstall. Restart the Computer after uninstalling the device with exclamation mark. Restarting the Computer with the player connected will make the Computer recognize the connected player.

Furthermore, check whether there is any universal serial host controllers prefixed with "Enhanced".

If there is no Enhanced universal serial host controller listed under the "serial bus controller" category then it's required to install the USB 2.0 driver.

In this case, uninstall all the devices listed under the universal serial controllers category then restart the Computer to reload them automatically.

Compac n6000 usb port problem

The issue could be due to corrupt USB Driver. I will give you a few steps to re-install the Drivers.
Please perform the following steps to uninstall USB Port.
1. Right-click on My Computer icon and select Properties.
2. Click Hardware tab. Click the Device Manager button and double-click the Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
3. Select a device listed under Universal Serial Bus Controller, right-click and Uninstall.
4. Click Yes to confirm the uninstallation of the device.

NOTE: Repeat step 3 and 4 until all the devices under Universal Serial Bus Controller are removed.
