If you have office formatted documents (word, excel, power point , etc) that you need to gain access to them , I suggest downloading and installing OPEN OFFICE from Sun Microsystems. It's completely MS Office compatible, and it's FREE!
I don't have a product key for you but, you can call Microsoft support.
To contact Microsoft Customer Service and Support, telephone (800) MICROSOFT (642-7676).
In Canada, call (877)568-2495.
Microsoft Customer Service hours of operation:

If this does not work, or is not an option to start with, here is my suggestion:
There is a great Open Source program called Open Office that mimics Microsoft Office. It is a FREE piece of fully functioning Office Suite and is supported on every major OS platform. I think you would be well pleased with it. If you already know how to use MS Office, then Open Source Office will be a piece of cake. You can find out about and download it here:
Good luck on which ever direction you take.
1. Put the MS Office install CD in your computer's CD drive. 2. Open "My Computer" 3. Open your CD drive (which will be most likely "D" or "E" 4. Look for a file named "SETUP" or SETUP.EXE 5. Double click that file 6. Punch in the info it asks you It will then install - should be very easy and simple from there.
.odt files will not be opened by MS word as a default.
Most likely MS Word does not have the latest service pack.
For Windows 2003, download Office 2003 SP2 as a minimum (available from Microsoft) Download, Install and reboot computer if required. When PC starts, start up MS Word 2003 which will have SP2 installed. Locate the ODT file and then double click it. As SP2 for Office 2003 is installed (or MS Word 2003) The file will now open. The formatting might be a little off, but for the most part, all the text will be there and you'll be able to edit and make changes as you see fit.
It seems that while you were deleting a file that was needed got tossed as well. You will need to reinstall Word for that program to run again.
If you dont have access to a microsoft office program disk or dont want to buy it dont worry too much theres a free open office program (not microsoft) that works just as good if not better (cause its free).
