It's a Canon Pixma IP 90. Screen says it's full and I have to go have it serviced, but I do not know where. Otherwise, it is a workhorse and I have never had a problem. It will not print now that the computer screen indicates "waste ink absorber full" Can anyone help?

    Clean process

    STEP 1:
    - Disconnect printer from AC power

    STEP 2:
    - Press and HOLD the POWER button, and
    connect printer to AC power

    This simple power off

Cleaning the absorber was also easy. Power up with the cover open until the head moves to the left side then disconnect the power cord so the head is now positioned away from the pads.
The two pads can be lifted up easily with a pair of sharp tweezers then rinsed in running water. They will become white again and can be blotted with paper napkins then air dried in a warm location. The wells in the rubber holder can be cleaned with cotton swabs before returning the two pads (left side first, then press down the right side).

The reset sequence also works for the PIXMA iP4820. Clean the absorbers THE FIRST TIME you get the message that they are almost full. I ignored the message to the point where my printhead froze on the right side, and my choices were buy a new printer or have this printer serviced-both nearly $100. The above reset sequence allowed my printhead to unlock, and while it was on the left side, I unplugged the printer, to keep the printhead on the left side, so that I could remove the pads and clean inside. The pads are air drying and I'm hopeful that when I put it all back together tomorrow, it will be fine. FYI, the waste ink absorbers are not intended to fill up before the printer reaches its 'end of life'. My printer is in a Family Room with a secondary heat source, which causes the need to many cleanings and deep cleanings, so the pads filled up before the printer died. THANK YOU!

    Reporting solution by daweed:
"WASTE TANK ALMOST FULL or FULL ERROR MESSAGE PROBLEM
This is true with many Canon Ink Jet Printers: Eventually, you'll get an error message "Waste Ink Tank Almost Full, Contact Your Canon Repair Center". Canon is totally sly about this, and is actually a pretty ridiculous design flaw that they should be ashamed of- planned obsolescence. Anyway, don't let this problem discourage buying an otherwise fantastic Canon printer.
This problem will also be indicated by flashing orange lights on your printer. Different flashes for different models.
LOOK IN YOUR PRINTER MANUAL TO KNOW WHAT NUMBER OF FLASHES INDICATE. In any case, your computer printer software will also tell you exactly what is going on.
You need to do this after you get the WASTE TANK ALMOST FULL message and the printer continues to work, but BEFORE the WASTE TANK FULL message and the printer completely stops. I think. ;-)
    Here's the fix:
The waste ink take is actually just a felt pad that sits under the printer mechanism inside the case and absorbs the ink from your cleanings. From what I gather, its both a time consuming and expensive proposition to take to Canon to fix. And they won't tell people how to do it themselves. Well, I WILL. And this works.
Remember of course, you've got to cycle the cleaning process a huge amount of times to get this to occur.
But when it does, there is a fix-it-yourself solution that is both safe and effective for the printer, and free. You have to be slightly mechanical to do this. If you get this message and you've never used a screwdriver and are all thumbs, well, Canon gotcha. But give it a shot even then, or give it to someone halfway coordinated to do this for you.
You may RESET the printer code first if you like or do it after you clean the pad
In some cases you may need to REMOVE THE PRINT HEAD FIRST or the reset code will not work. This was true of the S900 and i960 so, remove the print head first before doing this reset.
This is the correct code for the S and I (like i960) series of printers. (M series below this)
    1) Power off printer
    2) Hold RESUME button then press and hold POWER. (The beeper MAY sound once, or may not depending on your model.)
    3) Hold POWER and Release RESUME.
    4) Press RESUME twice then release both POWER and RESUME buttons.
    5) When the indicator lights steady, press RESUME 4 times (for the S900, 3 times for the 8200 apparently).
    6) Press power to set data.
    7) Print away!
For other codes for other printers and more info go here to this big forum (but try the above first) Fix Your Own Printer Generally many of Canon's models use exactly this same code, the i models use the same code, all the s models use the same code.
I did this and it works fine! No more error messages and so..."

SOURCE: how to reset waste ink absorber full ip3300 warning?

I have the same problem, but Jet Tec waste inks. When I first replaced black (pgi 5bk)-don't forget to place the small chip from the original cartridge to replacement; it worked fine. But now, it has a lot of problems because this **** printer from canon only want original inks (and the original are tooooooooo expensive). I'll never bought anything else from canon.

SOURCE: Ink wast absorber almost full

Hi there
There no easy way the printers are been made this way so you take them to the shop, but if you are handy with your hands and know what you are doing then you will need to take all apart and take out the ink pads inside the printer and clean them up make sure they nice dry when put back in, then you are going to need a program that you can find on the internet it will be called waste reset tools, or your printer will not work even after you done the clean out.

I have got canon MP-Tools on my website if this is the one you need.
with this you can reset the waste ink tank before you do the clean out but remember in time you will need to clean out or it going to be a big mess of ink coming out your printer.

Click Link = http://www.4all2sell.com/reset-tools/MPTool.exe

All I ask is please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.
