Lost files - due to soft reset?

Lots of files on my LD have vanished (or maybe only partly so). I'm not sure exactly when it happened, but the LD did what I think is a soft reset this evening, mid-use. Sometime later, going in D2G and Files, lots was missing. In fact, I think they were empty, but my memory may be at fault by now. I did a soft reset and some files appeared. In Files, there a just a few recognisable files listed under LIFEDRIVE. Before this happened, Files had two different places where files were stored. Was the other the one with the blue card symbol? Or is that only seen in D2G? Under LIFEDRIVE, as well as the few recognisable documents, I now have a CHDSK.TXT file telling me >>FAT filesystem check detected problems that were fixed: has entried after end of directory repair action: extending directory<< Then lots of messages about lost clusters. Also in LIFEDRIVE are lots of files that have numbers for names, an icon like a piece of paper with turned down top right corner - and they won't open. I wonder if these are the missing files and how do I get them back? And get back the usual division into the two different sections. (Are they LD and hard drive?) At some point I tried HotSynch, hoping they'd come back. No joy. Had an error message >>

Just check your PalmOne folder, see if anything there, i.e., : C:\Program Files\palmOne\\Internal Drive Backup *********************** well, a hard reset should be able to restore to LD new-out-of-the-box state, if you don't need to save any corrupted files in LD drive... But if they are something really important, what you can do is to copy whatever files out to a PC (i.e., via drive mode on a PC), and see if you can recover it with data recovery apps, or better yet, do it straight on the LD drive - although the chance of success is slim. What you described on previous post, sounds like the FAT table has messed up, and seems very similar to a PC HDD failure.

Ok, turn the washing machine off and unplud. Open the flap at the bottom left of the machine. Put a bucket underneath it. Unscrew the cap. Water will pour out - lots of it and very quickly - so make sure you have a bucket underneath it and lots of towels round that.
Once the water has drained out, check there are no blockages in there. You may find that some coins or buttons flush out with the water. That will be your problem.
Once clear, screw the plug back in and turn on machine.

Some codes are HARD codes & some SOFT codes. The hard code are stored in the computer memory because "something was wrong and is wrong." A soft code is when an issue happened but vanishes.Sounds like you might have something soft. You'll need that scanner hooked up when that light comes on to check the specs of the car.

I just found the most protracted set of instructions to reset it for reference.

1. charge on ac only = 8 hrs
2. remove battey, soft reset, reinsert battery
3. charge on ac only = 30 minutes, remove battery, remove power, hard reset then soft reset.
4. charge on ac only = 4 hrs
5. Power off. Soft reset.

Copying MP3s using Drive Mode

yup! soft reset and all was fine but looked pretty grim for a moment. Happened to me when i put the SD/LD icons into the trash (mac osx) before I hit the first 'turn off drive mode' page rather than hitting 'turn off' button, then trashing the icons, then hittinf turn of drive mode button. Is this in the manual....nope!
