Check that the ducts are not obstructed blow using an air compressor into the ducts, putting the compressor on water tank side, this should fix the problem.

Too late for your party, but my take on the matter is that you either didn't have the belt lifted all the way up before you put the shampooer head onto the machine, (brushroll was not spinning) or you may not have had the height adjustment lowered all the way to the floor. I have a store on a POPULAR auction site under the same ID as I am using here. If you can't find your manual, I have some in my online store.
