Bought a brand new Maytag Centennial 7.0 electric dryer. After 15 minutes it tripped the breaker. We reset and it tripped after 5 minutes. Called the store and they came and checked it out. Gave us a new one. The same thing is happening.

You could simply have a weak breaker and the load required for the machine is tripping it, have someone replace the breaker in the service panel, and you should be ok, ( while they are there, have them check the actual receptacle for loose or bad wiring

Why did my Trane air conditioner trip the circuit breaker?

Could be the circuit breaker is bad, only way to find out is to replace it,you can't tell by looking at it,my Dryer kept tripping mine, finally went to Home depot and bought a new one and it has fixed the problem, but It could be something else.I even called a electrical company and they said it just tripped the circuit breaker, and they reset it and the dryer worked for about 10 minutes after they left and it tripped again, had to pay them for service call and they didn't fix it,I did.Take your old one to match it up to be sure.

Does the maytag dryer have a reset button. The dryer was working fine then just stopped turning on.

No, they typically don't have a reset button. But they do have safety switches which can fail. Usually there is a microswitch on the door. When the door is open the dryer won't start. Do you have power at all to the dryer? Do any lights light up? If not, you may have tripped your circuit breaker to the dryer and need to reset them. Typically there will be two breaker switches tied together to move as one in your power panel for your house or apartment. If you are not sure the breaker has tripped, it won't hurt anything to switch them off and then back on again. If this does not help, you likely have a failed switch or relay in the dryer that will need to be replaced. Also check that your lint trap does not have a switch which will prevent to dryer from running if you have too much lint in it.

Power Failure without tripping breaker

Sounds like an overheat code tripped due to obstruction in the exhaust. There is also a vent tube on the bottom of the dryer that could be loose.

My basement flooded with about a foot of water. Now the dryer wont turn on. Is there an internal fuse or reset? or am I looking at a new dryer?

Make sure the motor still turns (by turning the drum) Then, with the unit unplugged, check the thermal fuses and thermostats. Also, make sure you still have power to it (that the breaker didn't trip from the water.)

Circuit breaker trips after 10 minutes

could be a weak breaker,or poor high resistance connection from panel to dryer plug, then have someone check the current draw on the dryer while operating and see if it's within specs of the machine tag, if it's higher than that you may have a defective motor or heating element to case causing a higher than normal current draw

My new maytag centennial electric keeps tripping

Hi Matt
I'm not sure that swapping out the breakers to higher rated ones will give you a solution so I'll throw in 2 cents to see if my advice holds true. Let's start by asking this. Is the appliance "rated" at 220 volts at 30 amps per leg. I assume this from your post as to what it has been rated. Next - How long is the "run" of wire from the junction box to the outlet where the appliance plugs in? This usually does not matter in most households but if the run is of significant length it may need a larger gage wire to support the current draw of the appliance. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, are the lugs and wire connectors tight at the outlet, the plug, and the breaker box. A loose connection will ramp up the current fast. This is assuming the first two items were met. Tell me if any of this helps and we'll work it out from there.
Thanks.

Maytag ac trips at plug constantly

first, get your money back or get a replacement for no charge. now, when you reset it, are you resetting the circuit breaker? if so, then first try another appliance that will demand near the same current as yours (~7-8 amps). if breaker does trip, check your house wiring. if not, then your unit's compressor motor is demanding too much current (assuming you have a 15A or 20A breaker)-not a pretty fix here. look for another unit
