Question about JVC RX-D302 7.1 Channels Receiver

1 Answer

Won't power up

After working for about a year, my RX-D302B won't power up. It's plugged into the AC, in standby, but when attempting to turn it on, the blue light flashes for a second and goes off. This always happens whether using the remote control or the switch on the facia, hot or cold.

Does this mean the power supply and/or related components need replacing?

Thanks.

i have the same problem, when i plug it in, it is in standby mode, but when i try to turn it on, it turns off immediately. I suspect a fuse blew out somewhere. Does anyone know where all the fuse location is? I took mine apart and only found 3 fuses, and they are all intact (wire in fuse not broken). Is there a 4th or 5th fuse somewhere? Thanks.

Receiver keeps going to standby

I don't know about the newer receivers but this sounds like an arching OFF/ON power switch that was a problem on Pioneer receivers years ago. I would bypass the switch and see what happens.

1. Unplug unit from wall.
2. Jumper two wires going to off/on switch using alligator clip with insulated boots on clips.
3. Plug amplifier into disconnected circuit breaker/fuse protected AC strip.
4. Plug AC strip into wall outlet, turn AC strip switch ON and see if problem disappears.

It couldn't start after an update. I found how to fix it on the product page : http://download.yamaha.com/search/detail/?language=en&site=europe.yamaha.com&asset_id=58063&category_id=16446&product_id=1643029&1375038490

Receiver doesn't power up after the update.
Error message appeared when confirming the firmware version.
Recovery method using USB method:
1. Unplug the AC power cable from wall outlet.
2. Insert the USB thumb drive which has the firmware data stored inside, into the USB port located on the front panel.
3. Press and hold the INFO key and keep it pressed while you plug the AC power cable back into the wall outlet again.
" USB UPDATE " will appear on the front display. Then, release the INFO key.
4. The update will start automatically.
5. When " UPDATE SUCCESS " appears on the display, firmware update is completed.
Power off the receiver and remove the USB thumb drive.
6. Confirm updated firmware version.

Denon AVR-1908 won't power on

Are you getting a standby light at all? Is it flashing? Do you here a click when you plug the unit in? If the answer is no to all of these then you blew a fuse. If you do have soome sort of standby light, then your set is in protect mode. More than likely for a blown channel. If no lights, but you ar egetting a click, you could have a bad transformer. Use a DVM and see if it is open or not. Good luck

Today i went to turn on my receiver and the standby light is on, but wheni push the power button nothing happens.

Try to unplug the AC cable from the wall for a couple of minutes, in order to clear any trouble program. Then plug in AC cable again, with power button off, and press power on in receiver. Do not attempt to use remote for a while. Hope this will help. Flavio/Brazil

Yamaha RX-V750 wont power up

Check the fuse. You might have had a power surge which blew a fuse. If not, check the fuse for the socket. Reset the fuses for that socket. If it still doesn't work, it sounds like the internal boards got fried, or the power supply got fried. The power supply is replaceable, but we don't know if it is the power supply. To check, connect a voltage meter to the power supply.

Something like this happened to me. I found a new kenwood stereo next to the dumpsters, stickers and all still on it, plugged it in, it worked, shut it off to plug in a speaker, didn't turn back on, months later after leaving it plugged in, turned on, I used it, then shut it off for the night, in the morning the standby light was still on, tried turning it on, but it wouldn't for some reason, unplugged it, then the light wouldn't come on, it was once again sitting on a shelf as a paperweight, one day it randomly came on again, and now it 100% works, and I use it as an amp for my RE audio subwoofer, and its worked great since! The reason this kinda applies to you is because its kinda simmilar what happened to you. Just leave it plugged in, and maybe sometime you will walk by it noticing it works.

Rx-dp15b reciever turns on, then immediately goes into standby

Just worked on a Sony with a similiar problem. I replaced the Power Amp Drivers. They were labeled as IC's on the circuit board. They were relatively inexprensive, around $33 total. This fixed required knowledge in using a Soldering Iron and Desoldering Wick. Also I had a schematic of the circuit board which can be purchased on the internet. Hope this works for you. It might be best to just have a tech look at it, if you have no electronics knowledge.

Unit is going into protection mode because the amplifier output stage is shorted. Measure output voltage of the speaker lines coming out of each output channel...front/center/rear...take measurement before the channel speaker line protection relay. If any voltage is present then that is the output channel that is at fault. Replacement parts are available to the consumer through tritronicsinc.com. If you have experience with a volt meter\checking transistors\soldering it is something you can do. If not it should be left to a service shop. Have a great day!!

Yamaha RX-V595A tuns off automatically

This was happening to mine also, all of a sudden. This solution came from the owners manual. Sure enough, the impedance selector was stuck in the middle , between 4 and 8 ohms....I also, made sure the speaker wires were not touching each other at the splice. Problem fixed.

The unit fails to turn on when
STANDBY/ON is pressed, or set in
the standby mode suddenly soon
after the power has been turned on.
The power cord is not plugged in or the
plug is not completely inserted.
The IMPEDANCE SELECTOR switch
on the rear panel is not fully set to the

Firmly plug in the power cord.
Set the switch fully to the upper or
