Question about Bose Lifestyle 38 Series III System

Problem with display in Bose Lifestyle 38 Series III

We have this system and recently we noticed that although the sound is fine when we play music, when we play dvds the video display shows 2 screens and the display is in a black and white mode.
Any suggestions to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

    I have the same system but mine wont play audio and the remote has no range.

    Is it ALL dvds? Are they brunt dvd? Check dvd format, bose might not be compatable with dvds. Try turn off and unpluging leave for hour, then try again. try update cd, might work..

No reset button. Simply unplug the power cord in the rear, wait 20 seconds and power back up.

I have also have this problem with a lifestyle 28 system. Bose sent me a new cable then a software update. The problem remained, after contacting Bose and unplugging cables and powering down the system this solved the problem. However 2 days after and the problem has re-appeared. Back to square one. I should add that this is the second unit I have had the retailer exchanged the last one because of the same problem.

I believe there is a USB port on the back of the unit. Has anyone been able to connect to it? Can anything be seen of the files on the hard drive?

My display has not been working for years. Replaced c17 cap wich was 33uF 63 volts on lower pcb board( only one on system) . Old cap was good so this was not the problem. Replaced c16 wich was 100uF 25 volts with a 100uF 63volts. Display works, old cap read low. Both c17, and c16 are located on the lower left hand corner of the larger pcb looking from the front of the unit. Hope this helps.

I am quite sure that the indicator lights should be green. The blinking yellow likely indicates that there is no communication between the head and the audiomass. Verify that the connections are tight and then try powering off (unplugging) the system (both head and audiomass) for 30 seconds and then powering on again. That will often re-establish communications.

Want to use my current speakers with a new surround sound system. Current system is 5.1 channels, rated at 100w per channel @ 8. Ohms. New System is rated 145watts, 5.2 channels at 6 Ohms. Will b ok?


Hi Ronald.
8 Ohm speakers will work just fine as replacements for the
6 ohm speakers. When fitting speakers you need to consider
The power handling capability. The impedance and the frequencies
involved. Power handling is expressed in wattage ie 100W.
Unfortunately this can be expressed in rms, max or peak music. The rms value (root mean square) is the only really relevant figure as this is the continuose handling power at 1 KHz. The impedance
is the resistance that the amp sees but is not a dc resistance and
varies with frequency. The lower the impedance the more power
will be drawn from the amp. In the event of a short circuit across
the speaker the amp will try to deliver infinite power into an infinitly
small load in an infinitesimal amount of time and will self destruct.
Using an 8 Ohm speaker draws less power than a 6 Ohm speaker.
Connecting speakers in parallel; results in the impedance beingreduced. For example two 8 Ohm speakers in parallel will result
in a 4 Ohm impedance load but in series will be 16 Ohms.
Incidentally the the .1 (5.1) is the sub woofer which only has
to handle the bass frequencies, a small percentage of the
amplifiers overall frequency response..
Connect your speakers and then power up the amp last
after double checking there are no shorts on the speaker
cables.

My Bose 321 switches it self off after 5mins . How do I stop this.


Occasionally the system may have the sleep mode activated , we have come across this before. Reset the system completely.

Hi I have an apple ipod model A1285 I loaded music but i cant play it. The play list shows 0. Can you please assist.


may want to check the library in iTunes to make sure the files are there on your hard drive and on your iPod if the problem persists clear your library and make iTunes find your music in your hard drive again and try placing the music onto the device once more

Fix wind noise in speaker of my garrard 3006 mk 2 vintage record player,?


My question is, do you hear music when you play a record, or is only "wind" coming out of the speakers?
The player was build in 1964 with Germanium transistors. These transistors are known for their noise level. But in those days nobody noticed this, because all transistor amplifies had noise.

If there is no sound at all, only noise, it can't be that difficult to repair the amplifier. There must be some schematics around on the net. Be aware you need a Xtal PU element and it won't be easy to get one of these.
I found an interesting page on the net. It is a pity the schematic is not 100% clear.

Possibly it is in the wrong format. Download vlc media player, that will play anything and will let you know if the DVD player is faulty or bot.

think the amp may have blown this is the problem with some after market radio's with the same wiring code as yours. best just ot get the radio you want and buy the adapter kit for it.

Make sure that the unit is fully charged by a micro USB the light on it will be red until it's fully charged put phone in search mode and press the center button until the light flashes red and blue after the phone finds it you should have an option to auto pair when it's not in use it will turn off when paired and working pressing either track button will start the music player then just play with the buttons and see what it does you can stop anything from the phone controls

BOSe Wave Radio - Disk "not readable"


I had the same problem with the disk unreadable error and took my unit to a authorized repair dealer about 100 miles from where I live to have it fixed. It ended up costing me about $300 to have the CD unit totally replaced which is almost as much as I paid for the unit in the first place. I am like a lot of you that used the CD very little although the unit was about 3 years old. I think Bose has a problem and would like us to think it is very rare. I bought a Lifestyle surround system about 14 years ago that has a CD and have never had a problem with it so needless to say I am very disappointed in the Wave II Radio/CD system. I am fairly certain the problem will occur again, but only time will tell.
