Question about Palm LifeDrive Handheld

Preventing hard drive spindown

Everyone's complaining about the lag. Part of the lag is from the fact that the hard drive spins down to conserve power when not in use. Frankly, I'd rather have the hard drive spinning continuously if it meant less lag, even if I had to recharge it more often! Is there a software fix for this?

SharkCache or RLock maybe cause some reset when you use your LifeDrive. In other word, SharkCache or RLock makes the LifeDrive unstable. It will conflict with some program you install in the LifeDrive. Speed or Stable ? You can judge by yourself.

Did a reset...stuck on the "Quick Erase" screen. If I reset again, the hard drive spins a few times, stops and does nothing else...but it never gets off the screen. Do I need to replace the hard drive?

Yes, is the only answer I can offer you as I have the same problem. The best advice I have found is.. replace the hard drive with a new micro drive or flash drive.

I'm having the same issue with my palm centro that everyone else seems to complain about (trying to HotSynch continuously). With all of these customers experiencing the same issues, surely there should be...

Hello shalen,

Make sure bluetooth is turned off and the usb cable is not connected. Then do the following:

•Tap the hotsync icon
•Notice the words 'Local | Modem' side by side on the screen
•Tap 'Modem'
•Select 'Standard Modem' in drop-down list
•Enter any phone number (eg. 800-525-6452 *this is a non-working number)
•Press the Home button

Now hotsync should stop trying to sync automatically. When you want to run a hotsync Tap on 'Local' in the hotsync screen.

If this solution is helpful please click a thumbs-up rating below.

Have a great day,

The hanging of your phone may be due to very low phone memory or due to virus attacks. So check your phone memory and delete unnecessary files.

Jasjar - Voice cracks too much

Sometimes these devices get hot.So try switching it off and remove the battery as well as the sime and wait than for a while.Do than a hard reset.I must warn to first back up important information from the device as once you do a hard reset. The device will be restored to the orginal factory settings and all data will be lost.Try this and see.I had a problem with the device ringing very shortly like about three to four rings and than it just it would just cut off.People would complain about me not answering the phone. But it was not me but the device not giving me enough time to answer. So I did a hard reset and it is working fine ....for now.I'll see what happeneds. So try this and see if this is a problem with all your calls than have the software checked out.

Do you have sufficient memory on your iPAQ? Check your memory settings, also check running programs tab, maybe you have too many programs still running in the background causing the latency. Try a soft reset (stops all running programs in the background) or end task on them, then see if it still lags.

Use an unpacker program to extract the files to a known location on your hard drive. The shareware WinZip unpacker can be downloaded from To setup the dialing properties on the Toshiba Pocket PC, please do the following steps: Tip on start -> settings choose the "tab" connections tip on connections choose the "tab" dialing Locations tip on the button "Dialing patterns" enter your necessary field parameters Please note: disable the "keyboard" in the dialing Locations screen, otherwise the button Dialing patterns is not visible. Tip: Due to the fact that a prefix to dial with a Handy is not necessary, it is a good idea to set all dialing pattern to "G" , which indicates a local number. If one want to use HCSD or GPRS it is recomended to set this parameters to "G", otherwise dealing will not work.
