Question about Dell A940 All-In-One InkJet Printer

I've tried everything to cleaning the bar to re-installing...any ideas?

Try this soon be back working
On the multi function machine seems to be a coating on the metal rod that the cartridges travel on. Just wipe this rod with a Kleenex and the problem seems to go away.
Somehow it presents a drag on the cartridges and causes an error.
Myself I would put a little bit of oil after on a cloth and wipe along the bar.

Please all I ask is call back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one, so I will keep on helping.

Check this out for the error. The trick here is to make sure the bar is cleaned and lubricated with furniture polish or cooking oil.

Hi,
Problem:The Shiny Silver bar that your Print Cartridges glide back and forth on is the problem.When the motor that moves the cartridges left and right have too much resistance, you get this error code 0502. Solution: Take some kleenex, and with power unplugged, clean the bar very well. Then Spray some WD-40 on a Kleenex, and lubricate the shaft. Hope this helps. Thanks for using Fixya.

Hardware error 0502. I cleaned the steel bar with kleenex & WD40 as suggested. I still get the Error 0502 when I turn it back on. Any other suggestion, please?

and put back on!! properly!!
may be your printer cartridge
not in ilignement!!!

Lexmark error message hardware error 0502


Clean the rollers that the cartridges run on with a non-lint wipe (i use non scented baby wipes for all my printer work. The printer should now run fine. cheers lilacgerry xxx

I did as suggested by another poster, clean the area of travel(ribbon,travel bar, etc) with a clean damp cloth and now it seems the problem has corrected it self
so far anyways ........
