the battery in my pda toshiba e570/audiovox maestro 1032 stopped charging, so I replaced the battery. A chore, but pda turned on, software ok. Now new battery does not charge.
Can I fix this? Or is it time to get a new pda

you can take it to a cell phone repair and have it done. you can also probably buy the parts on ebay.com just go to ebay and do a search for Toshiba E570 LCD and Toshiba E570 battery They should be readily available. Also, if you go to youtube.com and search for Toshiba E570 take apart you should find a video to guide you.
How old is it? - Just guessing that it's a couple years old, and your battery is shot. in this case you need to purchase a new one obviously.
Also, there are battery monitor programs you could try out to see the status. A hard reset might help - it has been known to correct a "faulty" battery status.
Hope this helps.
you could set back the e570 factory default very easily.
On the left side of the pda you could find a small button, called RESET button.
You have to do these following steps:
The pda have to be turned off, then press the power button while pressing and holding the reset switch with the stylus, release the power button and when a screen appears, release the reset switch.
But be careful, when you reset your pda all data will be lost and make sure that all storage cards are removed!!!
Personally I have not GPS on my PDA but there is no reason that it should not work properly. The only thing is that you should pay attention on several things. Check by software producer if the software is compatible to your PDA. Please also be careful which ports use GPS hardware because your PDA has no USB port just serial port.
With another words check all this important things before you buy anything.
the problem is based on the backup battery and the Battery charging Electronic of the Pda.
The only chance for you is to contact a Toshiba Service Partner for a repair of the Pocket PC.
The Mainboard of the PDA has to be replaced.
The Toshiba Pocket PC e570 is shipped with an Enabled security feature, which switches off the batteries.
In order to be able to turn on the unit, the Battery Switch must be in a battery "Supply" position. Please check if the Battery Switch is in a Stop position or Supply position.
The Battery Switch can be found on the lower left edge of the unit, next to the "Cradle Connection Port".
Please see the below diagram
The Battery Switch supplies or stops power to the Pocket PC. When using the Pocket PC for the first time, slide this switch to the left with the stylus pen.
The Battery Switch Lock on the lower left side of the unit (see the diagram), secures the main Battery Switch to the Supply position.
