I have a similar problem. I have a D link G router and a cable modem. I have a MacBook which connects to the wireless and internet without any problem. I also have a Dell Lap top with WinXp which also has no problem connecting to the wireless and internet.
However, I bought a new HP Lapatop with Vista Home Premium. It connects to the wireless network. Initially it is able to access the internet. However the internet connection gets broken and is very difficult to re-connect . If I shut down and sometimes reboot, the connection gets reestablished. The wireless network is always accessible but not the internet. Never a problem with MacBook however! I know this is a common problem but with different solutions.
    Any suggestion will be appreciated.

This will either be a driver glitch or a problem with the router or your internet provider. Start by uninstalling the wireless drivers from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the wireless and reinstall the drivers automatically. If this doesn't fix it, then you might want to call your internet provider and have them check out your router and connection.

How to load Integrated Wireless LAN on my toshiba satellite a45-s1202

If your Toshiba Satellite notebook computer is equipped with a wireless Internet card, you can connect to a Wi-Fi access point by turning on the wireless switch on the side of the laptop. However, the signal may not always be picked up by your wireless receiver; if that is the case, you will need to check your wireless-network settings and reconfigure the network connections manually.

Open the Network Settings program. Click on the Control Panel in your "Programs" bar and select "Network Settings." This will give you options for modifying how you connect to the Internet. Select "Connect to a Network" or "Show Network Status and Tasks." Both selections will show you whether you are disconnected from the wireless network. Select "Manage Network Connections." This selection is located on the left side of the window; clicking on it will show you whether you are connected to a local area connection or wireless network connection. Engage the wireless connection. Turn your wireless switch to "On," then right-click on the wireless network connection. Select "Connect/Disconnect." Wait for the IP address acquisition. It may take a few minutes for your Toshiba Satellite to pick up the signal and transmit your IP address. When this is complete, you will see the word "Connected" next to the name of your wireless connection, and a series of bars that indicate signal strength. Launch your favorite browser to access the Internet using the wireless connection.

Hello, I have Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop and wireless Internet doesn't connect. I see the wifi light is ON and I see in Internet connection it shows my profile as connected. But if i browse internet does...

Please connect your computer directly to your DSL / Cable modem and check if your internet is working fine, if not turn off your modem and restart after a minute or two.

Now check again if the internet is working by directly connecting your laptop to your modem. if it is not working, contact ISP. if it is working, turn on your router and check if your wireless connection is working.

If you wireless connection is still not working, please check if you have plugged the modem to the internet / WAN port behind your router.

Also try logging to your router page (refer to manual for procedure) and try changing the wireless channel.

Outlook and IE can't find WiFi connection. I can connect to a wireless network, but I can't get IE or MS Outlook download from it.

Hi,

First of all turn the wireless radio off on the laptop, then go to the modem and the wireless router and turn them off for 2 minutes.
Turn them back on and wait a further 2 minutes for them/it to reset.

Now go to your laptop and turn the wireless radio back on again, re-connect to the wireless signal and see if you can access the net. If you can then you should have no further problems retrieving your emails or accessing the internet.

Please feel free to post back if you need to.

Good luck.

Won't stay connected to internet

that might take an uninstall and reinstall of either the ethernet drivers, or the operating system. I haven't heard that, but I have had machines that aren't as reliable in the wireless as they could be. it's possible that something in the workings of it has gone haywire, but it sounds like an OS issue.

Back up everything you want to keep and reinstall the OS if possible.

Try letting windows manage your laptop wireless connection.  If you are using a third party sw to connect to the internet remove it and ask windows to manage your wireless connection.  Also verify that the router power cable is connected directly to the outlet and not an outlet splitter or surge protector.  Make sure your built in wireless is working and connected properly and test it than.
