Sounds like it's overheating and getting a memory error. try to clean out the case. run with the case open to see if if that helps. blow out the dust on the CPU heat sink

Battery does not last even 20 minutes

Simple, replace your battery.

Search online for Lenovo G550 replacement battery. They range in price from about $25 and up depending on brand and quality. The cheaper ones typically are Chinese import knock-offs, which can do fine, but may have reliability issues. I've had several and for the most part they work ok. For the price, its not likely buying the highest priced will necessarily make it any better in the long run. Just make sure the source you buy from (ebay, amazon, craigslist) are reputable and offer a replacement warranty.

Lenovo g550 turns off when power supply is disconnected ,battery shows fully charged

Replace the battery, it's faulty.

Batteries only have a useful life, then they have to be replaced. Sounds like yours is doing like the ink cartridges, where they register as being full of ink when actually there is no ink in the cartridge.

I cannot exit safe mode on my lenovo G550 laptop. I have system restored. booted, and failed booting. Also I restarted the computer many times completely.

Hello,
Symptons like these usually are due to corrupted data file that is why you Operating System is not loading correctly. Normally an OS reinstallation is the fix. You can shut down the computer and press the OKR button next to the power with an arched arrow sign from the computer turned off and it will restore the system to the default, however everything is gonna be wiped out but guaranteed you system will be error free.
Cheers!

I have a lenovo g550. when i put it to sleep, after several minutes he shuts himself down... do you have any idea how to fix that?

Hi blue_eyes_ca,

Do you mean that your system is not able to turn on after sleepmode and you need to push power button in order for it to turn on again?

If this is the case, you're system is actually not shutting down. The system is just having hard time turning on the system after sleep mode and this is because of the hard disk rotation being stopped.

You need to go to the Energy/Power management to change this setting to never.

Here's how:

1. Go to Start, select All Programs
2. Look for Lenovo Folder and expand the folder
3. Then select Enery/Power Management
4. The Energy/Power Management tool will open
5. Click on the mechanical icon and the settings will pop-up
6. Go to the system tab and change settings for "Stop Harddisk rotation" to Never
7. Save and Exit

Kindly observe the computer and see if it works. If my solution is not able to resolve your issue, please call Lenovo Warranty Support at 1877-453-6686 or 1877-737-1083 for OOW system.

I have lenovo G550 laptop,my DVD Rom drive has locked, please guide me how to unlock the drive

Hi There!

The best way for you to "unlock" the tray of your optical drive is to do it while in BIOS mode. Here's how to get to the BIOS screen :

1. Shut down your computer
2. Restart then tap on "DEL" key repeatedly until you see a different screen (example below)

mercadoarvin_8.jpg

From here, you should now be able to "eject" the optical drive tray.

If in case this does not work, then I would strongly recommend for you to send this system for possible optical drive replacement. For more information, you can visit the link below - it's Lenovo's official support site :
