Two things to check...use the disconnect handle where it attaches the door to the opener, then see if the door will open manually easily, if it does, the door is ok, if it doesn't LOOK at the springs that raise it. DO NOT try to adjust the springs yourself!!!!! if one of them is broken, call a service Co. to handle the repair. Also, check if the door is level. an easy way to eyeball it is to look at the rollers in the track while the door is closed. they should all be the same distance between the hinge on the door and the track. NEVER TRY TO MESS WITH THE SPRINGS!!!!!! THEY CAN SEVERELY INJURE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

Garage door stalls

The mechanical bearings and gears need some lubricants to smoothen the rotation. Try to apply some on the roller paths and joints

Sears Craftsman Garage Door Opener: doesn't move the chain; the motor makes a rotating noise for a while and stops, but no movement visible at the chain

Take off end panel opposite logic board. Should contain light bulb. Look inside. See lots of white powder? If yes, you need to replace gears (About $30 kit) . If you are pretty handy , you can do it. If not, replace entire unit.

I have a 3 stall garage with two garage doors, we also have 3 garage door openers. When I push the button on one opener both doors open or close. How can I fix this?

You will need to clear the memory of both openers by holding the smart/learn button in for 6 seconds. After doing this none of your remotes will work but your wall control will. Now you need to program the openers making sure you don't program any remotes for both doors.

After the door is fully open, the motor stalls when closing. It trys to continue to open instead of close and the screw drive carrage jams against the "open" end and stalls. I have to unplug it to get it...

It sounds like you have a broken or missing "upper limit switch". There is one for the down limit and should be one for the upper limit. If it is defective or missing the openers 'brain' will not tell the motor to reverse direction.

Craftsman Garage Door Opener - Gears need to be fixed

Unplug the unit and remove the cover, usually eight screws, if you see a lot of white dust in the cover check the nylon drive/worm gear, they will need to be replaced.

Garage door will not open or close

I had the same problem, mine was just the white Sprocket assembly, it stands straight up, there is another one which is the Worm gear, mine was fine. I read on some other post, when you take off the panel, and if you see a lot of white dust (shredded white plastic) then its the gear. Went to Sears warehouse, had the part in stock and replaced it myself. Had to just unbolt the Sprocket assembly from inside (3 bolts), pull out from the top, a little hassel, but got it done. Follow the instructions and you will be fine. Remember after greasing up the sprocket like it says too, take the time to use some silcone spray on the springs and rollers, a lot of people forget to do this, even me...

My garage door opener doesnt close all the way.

The motor is probably either stalling because the door is too stiff, or you have a beam break detector that is being triggered when the door is halfway down.
