Acer Aspire One Happy Two 10.1" Netbook freezes even when just one tab is open in Google Chrome. I have a performance monitoring software that tells me I supposedly have no performance issues. I do not have a lot of extra programs installed and I was sure to cut back on my background programs. I have only had the netbook for about three weeks now and am very frustrated. I know it cannot be a heating problem as I always keep it on a lap desk or tabletop. I'm starting to wonder if it is just a manufacturing fault, as the manufacturing date on my netbook is only June 2011 (very new). Of course I didn't expect much since I bought one of the cheapest netbooks on the market, but I definitely still expected it to last me longer than this. The only reason it isn't freezing now is because I have it in safe mode.

There are many things that might cause your PC to run slowly. It could be a fragmented disk; fragmented registry; a virus, Trojan, or spy ware; high CPU and/or utilization due to too many programs running; high disk I/O; or something else.

To check your CPU and memory utilization, run Task Manager. You can start Task Manager by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL and then clicking on the Task Manager Button. In Task manager, click on the Performance tab and check CPU Usage and PF Usage. PF Usage is an indicator of memory usage. If one or both of these is high, click on the Processes tab, and sort the columns by CPU or Memory to see what processes are consuming the resource. If you are not sure what the process "Image name" is for, Google the name and you should find what the process is for.

If your CPU and memory usage are reasonable, then you may have a different issue. Even if you running anti-virus software, it may be beneficial to scan your PC with another scanner to check for viruses. No anti-virus software is 100% perfect at catching everything. Here are a few good free online virus scanners that you can run to check your PC:

An excellent free utility for overall system maintenance is Advanced System Care Free ( http://download.cnet.com/advanced-systemcare-free/3000-2086_4-10407614 .html ). I use this utility on a regular basis.

You should always run anti-virus software. There are several very good, free, anti-virus products available. One good source to read editor and user reviews, and safely download anti-virus software, is http://download.cnet.com -- search for free antivirus software. In addition to the reviews, you can see how many people are downloading the software, which is another good indicator of how popular it is.

I have used AVG Free ( http://download.cnet.com/avg-anti-virus-free/3000-2239_4-10320142.html ) , and Avast Free ( http://download.cnet.com/avast-free-antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.htm l ). Both are very good, and completely free. At present I am using Avast on all of my home computers.

I have heard good things about Avira AntiVir Free ( http://download.cnet.com/Avira-AntiVir-Personal-Free-Antivirus/3000-22 39_4-10322935.html ), and it has good ratings, but I have not personally tried it.

In addition to Avast or one of the other free anti-virus software packages, I also run Ad-Aware ( http://download.cnet.com/ad-aware-free-internet/3000-8022_4-10045910.h tml ). Ad-Aware is a free anti-malware, anti-spyware package.

Good luck!

I have been using a Canon MX320 printer with my Acer Aspire netbook for 2 years. It added successfully then using the windows new hardware wizard. Recently the netbook had to go fo "clean up" (virus)

Try to reboot yout computer. And try to disconnect your printer and install again using the Windows new hardware wizard.

If that doesn't work, you can download a driver here and install it manually.

I'm installing Zavio CCTV (F312A Wireless IP Camera) Surveillance software into my Acer Aspire One Happy netbook. Installation done correctly with out any error. After I click on Main Console icon to start...

If you can't get the included software to work and you are looking for another option, there is a nice free webcam / IPcam monitoring program available from VitaminD Inc.

The basic version is completely free and has amazing motion detect capabilities and works great with webcams or wireless IPcams as long as you only have 1 camera to monitor.

The paid versions allow multiple cameras to be connected and monitored and allow for even higher resolutions than the free version.

Here is a direct link to the CNET Free Download page where you can read about it and download it free if you want to:

Windows vista sp2, chrome freezes after about 10-15 min of use, not even the three figure salute helps (crtl-alt-del) have to force a hard shutdown, did have an issue w/ the sp2 install, it was cancelled...

Download and install this fantastic free program CCleaner. http://www.ccleaner.com/download During the installation watch for the download of the Yahoo Toolbar and uncheck that box to prevent that from being installed. Now open CCleaner and go to the Tools tab >> Uninstall tab and uninstall Google Chrome. Now go the the Issues tab and scan for issues. Fix all issues it finds and make a backup if you wish, although I have never seen CCleaner cause any problems. It is a mild, safe, registry cleaner and will find many issues if you have not ran a registry cleaner before. Now go to the Cleaner tab and run the cleaner which will remove all temporary internet files and files you no longer need. Close CCleaner and open Disk Cleanup and run that. Remove all it finds. Restart your computer and install Google Chrome again.
