Question about Sony VAIO VGN-A170P Notebook
Depends where in the world you live. If you are in Europe Sony will not allow you to fix it yourself. It must be returned to their service centre in France! If you want to try and do it yourself try www.impactcomputers.com which will ship outside the US if you ask them nicely. They are the laptop equivelent of a car breakers yard.

Go to Sony's website. There you should be able to search all of the specs and issues of your specific laptop by typing your model number inside the search box on Sony site. There should also be an option to show you how to purchase accessories for your computer. If your computer is still under warranty, contact Sony, and request for them to fix it at no cost. Sony site also has an option to chat online with customer support/tech support. Sony is very good about helping their customers.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
