I restarted the PC, however the monitor never re-generated the screen and stayed black; the light on the on/off button just blinked. When you start from a cold boot it seems ok. I also received a message the monitor settings were set low. I am running Windows XP on a Dell XPS/Dimension 410/9200.Any ideas?

Reboot meaning restarting the monitor or the PC?
Rebooting the monitor is a good idea, if that's not a solution, you should check for your display settings. Maybe the operation system is handling sleep mode bad instead of the monitor.
when i power start my computer,,the light come on and seems to operate but the monitor doesn't come on,,,when switichin the monitor off and on , the blue light comes on and it reads monitor goin to sleep and the screen gets dark,,but the monitor orange light is on,,,pls help
The high pitch sound is coming from the inverter. It is faulty and needs to be repaired or replaced. The inverter supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp, this lamp gives the backlight to the LCD so you can see the LCD images.

it is going into sleep mode, good luck with this.... i am currently asking how to get my hard drive to quite putting my monitor into sleep mode.
although it hasn't worked for me because my screen stays black, one of the options given to me is to try to start in safe mode and then adjust your settings to "never" on the energy/sleep/hibernate mode
some one else suggested that i remove and reseat the video card
I had a similar problem whereas my monitor went to sleep mode after a few minutes. I'm running an HP LP 2065 in dual mode with another HP flat screen. However, I did resolve the issue after resetting the output settings.
How to do that:
right mouse click on the desktop
select graphic options
Maybe some changings/modification will help you too.
Sound's to me more like a Video card issue, try the monitor in another computer if you are able 2 , otherwise please make sure video card is in tight and secure , not 2 sure what you mean by sleep mode, are you using windows vista? or xp? you may need to change some settings on your operating system , when you turn on computer do you see anything on screen at the start up? also when you click the menu button on the monitor does anything come on the screen then ? if so then its in your opertating sytem settings , disply settings e.c.t, i really need more info to help you solve this , the best thing i can suggest for now is to try the lcd on another computer a friends computer maybe , before considering the monitor is toast , hope this helps some way , good luck !
