My omega ducted heating switches off before reaching set temperature. Will not turn back on unless you turn off power and switch back on only to do same thing again

Sound like your heat anticipator in your thermostat is out of adjustment, New one comes pre-set.

Is it normal for my furnace to have burner cycle once or twice


That sounds normal. When the bonnet reaches a preset temperature the burner turns off then when it cools down a bit the burner turns back on. Clean filters etc will help to keep the burner on longer in a cycle.

Just bought LG gas dryer, was a floor model and I didnt get the manual with it. when I set the dryer, it seems to be on a timer because I will set it for 54 min and about 5min later the dryer will turn...


Take off your LINT Ducting and clean out completely, all the way to the outside hole in your house.


There is a heat limiting switch that turns off the unit if the heat gets to a temperature in the Lint Duct that is too high and is very dangerous.


If the air flow is limited too much, then the free flow of air can not be carrying out the heat generated by the machine to dry the clothers. You could have, and probably do have a nasty clog in your ducting, so hence, the air is not getting out successfully and it is staying all in the dryer unit. When the temperature reaches the LIMIT ALLOWED, then it shuts it off to prevent a instant FIRE.


The good news is your sensor is working, and the bad news is you gotta take the ducting apart and clean it good.


HINT: Make sure you DO NOT have any loops or low spots or lengths of hose that make the dryer have to blow the lint UP HILL. That is a common mistake because damp lint is heavy and it will build up anywhere there is a place that the air flow will not carry the weight of the damp lint, hence it drops it right there and starts a build up until it is blocked and then the sensor feels the temperature reach the Upper Limit and shuts off your machine. You may have to reroute your dryer ducting in a manner that the air flow is always level or even better, slopping down a little.


Good luck, and be sure to unplug the dryer before you start digging around the back and/or inside your machine.

Why light blinks then goes off when switch is still in the on position


The thermostat in the iron controls the temperature of the iron. The red light indicates when the power applied to heat the iron which is set by the temperature dial on the iron. When it reaches the correct temperature the thermostat turn off the power and that is when the red light switches off.

Circulating is Fan Assisted mode. In this mode the fan kicks in when temperature is reached and runs all the time.

There is no preheat unless you set temperature. That is why you get the fan from start.

Electric water heaters never power BOTH the upper and lower elements at the same time.

If the water in the tank is cold, either the top OR bottom element will be powered through the upper thermostat (t-stat), never both at the same time. The upper t-stat will send power to the upper element until the temperature of the water in the top of the tank reaches the set point of the t-stat say 140 degrees. When the water temperature in the top of the tank reaches 140 degrees, the t-stat is "satisfied" and disconnects the power from the top element and sends it to the lower t-stat.

IF the temperature of the water in the lower half of the tank is lower than the set point of the lower t-stat, the t-stat closes to send power to the lower element. The lower element REMAINS powered by the t-stat until EITHER the water in the lower part of the tank reaches the set point temperature of the lower t-stat again, say 140 degrees; OR the temperature of the water in the upper part of the tank drops, at which point the upper t-stat "calls" and switches the power away from the lower t-stat and sends it to the upper heating element instead. When the top t-stat is satisfied, it switches power back to the lower t-stat. The process will continue back and forth for as long as needed to bring the temperature of the water in both halves of the tank to 140 degrees.

You must wait until the top of the tank is heated - before the lower element will be powered to heat the water.

Sounds as if the overload switch is turning it off, either because the burner chamber is overheating or the overload switch needs to be replaced. When you turn it off and then back on, the switch resets itself.

The high limit thermal switch on heater burns out.


There are two thermostats, a 'limit' or 'operating' thermostat which turns the heating element on and off, and a 'high limit' or 'safety' thermostat which oversees the 'operating' thermostat by opening and removing power to the heating element when the upper limit temperature is reached. Basically, the only difference between these two are the temperature ratings. The 'high limit' is higher than the 'operating' thermostat. The thermal fuse is the last resort protection.

First and foremost, you must know that every inch of your exhaust vent pipe is clean.

Usually, a bimetallic limit switch will degenerate in the direction of too low of a temperature range because as the parts wear out inside, the mechanical tolerance widens (the tiny rod that pushes the contacts together gets shorter).

The high limit thermostat is by the thermal fuse. The operating thermostat is in the blower housing.

Check the fan impeller for broken vanes and lint. The impeller is directly coupled to the motor and should not turn without the motor. The fan housing and ducting should be free of excess lint.

Typical systems are designed with a thermostatic "fan limit switch" which protrudes into the heater (house air portion of the passages). The "fan limit switch" is mounted to, and protrudes into the duct within the burner section of the heater, near the heated metal.

This switch triggers the circulating fan to turn on only after the sensor (thus air) within the duct has reached well above ambient temperature. This design prevents the fan from coming on sooner and the system blowing cold air, which people don't like.

Depending on system design, installation and current operating conditions, the time delay from main burners on to fan on can be up to a couple of minutes.

This same limit switch, if the temperature goes high enough, will also turn the gas valve off; a fire safety function.

My air handler comes on ,not the outside unit when my thermostat is in the off position even if i turn the thermostat down to 50 and have it turned off the air handler comes on for about 5 to 10 minutes...


If you have a standard thermostat the fan switch is for the air handler only. It completely over rides the thermostat for most settings. Now lets see this is what I'd expect:
fan switch on Indoor fan runs all time
Fan switch auto Indoor fan only runs when thermostat is set to cool or heat and the thermostat is turned up above room temp for heat or below room temp for cooling. In both of these modes the furnace blower comes on and stays on til the room temperature is satisfied. The outdoor unit only comes on for AC the out door unit will not come on for heat or the "on" setting on the thermostat. See exception 1 & 2 below...

Exception 1- (in a heat pump the out door unit runs in both heat and cool mode unless it has emergency heat turned on then it will not come on outside in the heat mode, and depending on the type of heat pump and furnace or air handler it is). A heat pump thermostat usually has "backup heat" and an "emergency heat" setting switch on the thermostat.
Exception 2 - On some thermostats they are made to cycle on the heat if the temperature reaches a preset temp (around 50'f usually but definitely by 40'f). This mode prevents freezing when if instance the homeowner is away or while the home is under construction. In this mode the fan inside can run but the heat usually comes on with it.
Exception3 - On some electric furnaces the heating strips may be individually controlled and thus not all come on at one time. This may give the feel of no heat especially if the room is cold.

Now there may be other exceptions but Ive tried to give you a heads up on some of the most common ones.
If you need more help please post more specifics about your unit/system as to for sure what switches are set to what setting and what is happening with each. My first though was that maybe your system is OK and you needed to know if the thermostat was working properly.
