1 Answer

Wireless Adapter Hi my new laptop said it was connected to the internet but it didn't dowload any pages from the net. I tried all the basics and my moms boyfriend who knows these things pretty well told me to delete the wireless adapter driver and when i turned it back on it would ask me to install new software. but now it can't find the new software.. so it doesnt even say im connected any more. Fixes? its windows vista from gateway.

You can re-create the Wireless connection. Go to the Control Panel, and select Network (or a shorter way, if you know).

To connect your Xbox 360 gaming console to a NETGEAR router's wireless network:
  1. Turn off your Xbox 360 and disconnect anything from the I/O port on the back of the console.
  2. Insert your Xbox 360 wireless adapter to the I/O port as instructed by the wireless adapter manual.
  3. Connect the wireless adapter cable to your Xbox 360 I/O port.
  4. Flip up the network adapter's antenna.
  5. Turn on your Xbox 360.
    • If you are using an unencrypted wireless network, your Xbox should connect to it automatically and you do not need to proceed to Step 6.
    • If you are using an encrypted wireless network click the System tab, and then click Network Settings and continue with Step 6.
  6. On the Network Settings page, select Edit Settings.
  7. On the Edit Settings page, select your wireless settings on the Basic Settings tab.
  8. On the Select Wireless Network page, select your wireless network.
  9. On the WEP Network page, type your wireless network key, and then click Done.
  10. On the Apply Settings page, click Test Xbox Live.
  11. If this is the first time you have connected your Xbox 360 to Xbox Live, you will probably be prompted to apply an update. If there are no updates, the Xbox Live Connection page shows that you're connected to Xbox Live. Press the Y button on your controller to continue.

If testing the Xbox it says DNS failed, then update your NETGEAR router firmware:
  1. From your computer, open an Internet Browser and navigate to http://kb.netgear.com to download the firmware for your router.
  2. Log in to your NETGEAR router by browsing to http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com. Enter the username (admin) and password. By default, the password is password or 1234 unless it has already been changed.
  3. Click Router Upgrade on the top left pane under Maintenance, browse for the firmware downloaded and click Upload.
  4. Wait for the router to reboot.

The other day i plugged a net gear adapter in thinking it would connect me to the network at work, but i realized it was just a wireless adapter, and my computer is already equipped with wireless. Anyway,...

First, I would go to the control panel (start, control panel; or start, settings, control panel). Then got to Add/Remove Programs. Scroll down the list until you find what looks like netgear software and try uninstalling there.

If that does not work or you can't find it in the list, you could try inserting the install cd again. Check to see if there is an unistall option, and perform an uninstall. Or, if not, then try installing it completely, then uninstalling it via CD.

hi,
ok sir i got it if the wireless network is detected then try and connect and the if it doesnt connect try and connect in safe mode with networking sometimes wireless doesnt work in safe mode, but still try that, uninstall and reinstall the wireless driver for adaptor and then open the gui page(router page with the default gateway page and then change the wireless channels and also turn off the firewall, and from the start, all programme turn on the wireless adaptor utility and then start the services of wireless zero configuration from services.msc.....then if it is connected with the ehternet cable, then what u can do is that go to the router page and then also put a check in the let the windows controll the wireless network......and it will definately work and if it doesnt work then reinstall the operating system......good luck...

It's been isolated that the problem is coming from the wireless adapter on your laptop since other pc works fine. Try updating the driver on your wireless adapter and see if that will resolve your intermittent connection.

Hi, it may be that you need to set/unset/reset your proxy settings and/or internet gateway. With either firefox or ie, it is normally in tools/option/connection. Please let me know if this works out for you or you need further assistance. Regards.

Belkin

Hi, your message is kinda garbled up lol. But if your Laptop is getting connected and has like 2 bars + in signal and it says you are connected it could be a few things the WEP security code you used could be wrong or you didnt put it in capitals & lowercase, as if its not exact will say connected but not let you browse, other thing it could be you need to go into internet explorer you will get page not displayed, press tools, internet options under security you need to click each picture then press default level and do it for each one then click apply then ok. then give it a try.. All the best John
