Hello, I'm currently in Hanoi, Vietnam, working and using a Gateway laptop. Recently I had to reformat my laptop with the back-up CD's I created when I bought the laptop. Unfortunately I still need to download all the drivers necessary to complete the formatting. For some strange reason I cannot access the www.gateway.com website. Vietnam does not block access to any websites. Why would Gateway block I.P.'s from VN? My model number is 6020GN.

Gateway support site for starters, and then Windows Update, and finally look up components in hardware/Device mgr. Go to the mfrs websites and download the most current ones for your hardware and operating system. If you have an Intel processor, Intel's site "Support" will scan and determine the newest Intel drivers for you. NVidia and AMD's ATI also have drivers. Realtek also provides them for their products.
This is the specific Vista driver for your computer. If you have been trying others, your hardware probably will not work. Hardware compatibility is an issue with upgrading to Vista. You need to make sure you are getting the right drivers from the device manufacturer, and sometimes you might find none available.
Did you ask GATEWAY? Is it on board sound? Has the motherboard been replaced? Did you look on the Gateway site for your computer to get the driver for your O.S.? Here is the link. http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/Gateway/7305GZ/4093nv.shtml
