Question about Acer Aspire 5600 Series 5630-6951 Laptop
Often (after a factory default recovery) we suffer very slow bootup times on the ACER 5633
During the bootup the Laptop seems to hang for a while on the customer (press F2 to enter setup) `ACER` customer screen. the progress bar would be about 60% then, reverts to black screen, with about 3-4 minutes before login screen appears.
If I change the `Quiet Boot` option in BIOS to disabled, I get the summary screen instead with a long pause between text regarding ATAPI CD-ROM and Mouse Initialized. This pause equates to about the same period of time if the Customer Screen is displayed.
Now I know something is holding the PC to ransom during the bootup, but I wish I knew what it was so as to either disable or delete the offending program/task so that I can use the Laptop straight away, instead of having to put a kettel on everytime for a brew, just waiting for the login screen to appear?
If this is a simple fix, I'd really appreciate some advice or to where to look, as I have'nt seen any mention of this condition anywhere on the web so far.
My only way to clear this is to factory reset the Laptop (Ctrl+Alt+F10)
many thanks in advance
I would suggest booting into Safe Mode with networking (do this by pressing F8 during boot. Just tap it every few seconds until you get the OS selection menu). Once you enter Safe Mode, go to www.gmer.net and download their removal tool. You may have what's called a Rootkit trojan. Those can stay in your system's memory even after a factory default reset.

Tips for a great answer:
Jul 15, 2012 | Acer TravelMate 5730-6204 Notebook
Click Acer Recovery Management
Click the Restore button on the bottom of the dialog box that opens
Click Restore System to Factory Default
Click Yes in the warning dialog box which asks if you wish to continue the recovery process
Click yes Start to restore the computer to the default factory settings
Sometimes there is a default acer password which is quite often 000000 that is 6 zero's
or place the recovery disk into your cd
restart the laptop pressing F12 i believe
then follow on screen instructions
please let us know if this has helped you so that we can hopefully help others
