Question about Palm LifeDrive Handheld

ICal vs. Palm Desktop

Would it be better to use the PalmDesktop, because this software was made for Palm-Devices or wouldn't I see any difference when I sync to other software like iCal (Mac OSX)?

Re: iCal vs. Palm Desktop

Personally I greatly prefer to use iCal over Palm Desktop. The important thing is not to try to use both at once, or you will have major problems. If you choose to switch back after trying iSync, you must also be very careful not to use conflicting conduits.

How do i transfer the data from the old palm to

The Palm Desktop (installed on your computer) should have all the information that is currently on it. Make sure that you sync before moving on.

On the tungsten, there will be a version of the palm desktop (updated) for it. Just install that version, it will find your old version, and import from there. PalmDesktop 6 supports Vista, unknown how well it will work as a 32bit app being emulated in 64bit environment.

I can't figure out how to get my address book from the computer into the palm. Also is there a support number. deacon@paulbunyan.net

To contact Palm, you must first use their carrier user page. Click on the Link below to access that screen:

To get your information transferred, which is called "Syncing" you must have installed the Palm Software and told it which communication method, USB, Serial, Infrared, etc. you will be using. To learn more about this, click on the link below:

Hot sync with vista

I have Vista Home Premium and I hotsync my peg-n760c using Palm Desktop. It came with version 4.1, but it was a disaster. The Cd is old and isn't compatible with Vista. So I downloaded an upgrade from Palm.com and I definitely don't use the Jukebox software that came with it either. Go to Palm.com and download PalmDesktop Win62.exe and install it. It should recognize your USB connection and hotsync immediately. Also, use Windows Media Player and change the files to mp3 by using a free program called Switch. Just google Switch and download the basic program. Then load the mp3 files onto your memory stick in Windows Explorer. Then use MSimport to load the memory stick files into your handheld. Good luck!

Clie and Palm on the same machine

Are you trying to use two different PDAs with the same PalmDesktop? That will be a problem. I switched from Palm to Clie and back to Palm, and their drivers are NOT compatible - even though they are basically the same software. Stupid, I know. At least now I can have two different Palm Desktops - one for my Clie and one for my T3. It's working for me right now. I would make backup files of everything before you load the new Desktop. You could lose all your data/programs if you don't. I learned that the first time.
