Question about KitchenAid (KSRD22FKST) Side by Side Refrigerator

2 Answers

Ice maker not filling up. Water comes out front.

I think I need to go through the troubleshooting procedure. The black inlet line is not frozen. The red light blinks. The ice maker switch is turned on. I just injected some hot water into the ice tray to try to melt anything that may be frozen. I'm not too hopeful. Any assistance on troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Ok. I just went ahead and ordered the whole icemaker unit from www.apwagner.com, replaced it and it works now. Total cost, including tax and shipping was $155.99.

The key here is that the ejector blades were facing towards the bottom of the tray at the 7:00 position with the angle towards the front bottom of the tray (toward the outside of the fridge). They should be in the 2:00 position.

I probably could have gotten by with a smaller part, "module assembly", which goes for around $75, but live and learn. I'll probably go that route next time.

Just replaced the water filter on our side by side Kenmore 53569202, thinking that may have caused our ice maker to quit working. when opening the door to the freezer, there is a red light blinking twice...

You could have ice in the water shoot which formed because your inlet valve is clogged. The inlet valve is locater in the back behind access cover. Melt the water shoot with a hairdryer and then replace your inlet valve. Fairly inexpensive and easy to change. The reason the water shoot becomes ice is the inlet valve get slower and slower water flow which gives it time to freeze on the way in to the ice maker. Hope i helped, Rate me.

The Icemaker in my whirlptool side by side model ED5HVAXVL02 is not producing ice. The LED light just blinks Red. It blinks 2times then pause for 1 second. I have read that it means that the optics are...

2 blinks and a pause means your optics are good . Most of the time the ice maker is bad and needs replaced . Put about 2/3 cup of water in the ice maker and if it dumps , replace the water inlet valve AND check the black fill tube which fills the ice maker to see if it is frozen . If so , this is also an indication of a seeping ( leaking not closing completely ) water valve .

Ice maker not producing any ice.

Pour about 1/2 cup of water into icemaker . Squeeze the black fill tub which is above the icemaker cup . If ice apears to be in it , this indicates that the weter valve is not completely closing , letting a drip ocasionally go thru and freezing inside the tube , ( water valve bad ) . that will be a different solution . If the icemaker dumps the cubes after freezing . and black tube is not frozen , replace the water inlet valve . If the icemaker does not dump the ice after frozen , replace the icemaker ( only 1 screw holds the icemaker in , located on rear portion on right , faceing down . Also check the icemaker rake , which should be about the 2:30 position . To thaw out the black tube (which runs thru the top of the refrig ) a 1/4 push on connector will be needed . Remove the icemaker and use a hairdryer aimed up into the hole . Cut the tubing to the fill tub behind the fridge about 9 inches from where it enters the top of the fridge . This will let warm air inside the top fill line to help thaw . Ocassionally blow thru the 9 inch tube until you can blow thru it . May take a day or 2 , depending how frozen the line is . Once air will go thru , install the push on connector to couple the cut lines back togather .

The blinking red light on the right side , is the receiver for the electric eye for cutting off the icemaker when the door bin is full , This blinking is normal . 2 blinks ...pause...2 blinks..etc .

Do not replace the filter if water flow is good thru the dispensor .

Water lines i think are ok but cant get water or make ice

Check the following:

See if the fridge has a water filter...it could be plugged and need replacement...check your manual for the location and replacement procedures

Check the inlet water line to the ice maker...it could be frozen...a hair dryer can be used to thaw it out and get the ice make to work again...be careful and don't overheat the ice maker inlet water line.

Make sure the water line is ok and not obstructed or kinked

Check the ice maker water valve to be sure it opens and isn't clogged

Cycle the arm on the ice maker and wait to see if it will make ice again
