Question about Dyson DC17 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

2 Answers

Dyson animal We bought a Dyson Animal from Sears a few years ago along with a service contract. We took it each year to be serviced. One year I took it because it lost it's suction. They sent it to the factory, but it came back still not working right. We did the same procedure over ands over many times than I can remember. I now have the cleaner in my garage and am using my old vacuum because I just can't seem to get anywhere with Sears. Please help me. We paid almost $600.00 and now it can't be used. Thanks so much, Joan Turner

As someone who works for Sears, let me just say right now.. The service contract you bought sucks.. and does not really do anything for you. it was just a wast of money ( they have a new one now.. thats so much better because you get your money back in full on a gift card but anyways) When you buy a dyson from any place you really have no need for that contract, since sears CANT touch your dyson. Your really better off calling Dyson up and talking to them yourself, i know you said sears sent it out.. but wait heres a shocker.. Sometimes they never *really* send anything out to be fixed.. if it does not bring them in money, they don't care.. and then they can get you to buy a *new* vacuum from them with that same S.C. that is of no use!
Sorry i cant help with your problem, but just wanted to give you a little insight on how Sears works since K mart bought them.

Each time I vacuum, animal hair and dirt collect on the Hepa filter of my Dyson Animal. It is about 5 years old. I have already replaced the Hepa filter about a month ago.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC14. If dirt and pet hair are collecting on your HEPA filter, the pre-motor filter may be incorrectly fitted, or missing from your cleaner. To check the filter is correctly fitted, please see our online support video for this cleaner:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=1461&product=DC14-ALLFLOORS_US

If the cleaner has been used with the pre-motor filter missing, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly, as the cleaner may have been damaged. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

How to get a repair manual for dyson dc-28 animal and how to replace the brush belt

Hi there,

We would strongly advise against attempting this sort of repair yourself, as the work should only be carried out by a Dyson engineer. If you feel your DC28 needs servicing, please get in touch with us directly so we can help you resolve your issue as quickly as possible. If servicing is necessary, any work carried out should be covered by our 5-year warranty, as long as the cleaner has been used in accordance with the terms and conditions described in the user guide. Please note attempting to repair the machine yourself will void the warranty.

You can call us free on 1866MYDYSON - or if you email your details to askdysonUS@dyson.com, someone will be in contact as soon as possible.

Kind regards,

How much does it cost to have dyson animal service

HI there I am a technition in Australia and I charge $88 for a service on a dyson DC07. Basically for that I strip the machine right down, clean the airways, service the motor and the clutch. I check the brush roller bearings and disassemle the radix unit and clear it out. I also change filters and belts where necessary. After about 5 years the bearings in the brush roller are worn too so I generally change those too.
Hope this helps.

I have a Dyson Animal vacuum - about 3 years old - and the beater bar won't turn. I can't find my manual anywhere - any suggestions as to the cause?

There is a part under the knob that adjusts from bare floor to carpet that goes bad on these vacuums. I have an animal that is about 3 or 4 years old and I had it repaired last year( to the tune of $115.00), and it broke again in December, so I just bought a new one, tired of paying high repair cost!!

The suction in the hose of my 2 year old Dyson Animal vacuum is compromised. I may have sucked up a small cat toy or something. Regular vac still is fine. The hose "sucks closed" after a few seconds near...

Hi there, it sounds as though the wand handle is blocked. To test this, remove the wand handle from the hose and test the suction at the top of the hose. If its strong here, then you will need to remove the blockage from the wand handle. If the suction is still poor, you will need to remove the hose by pressing in the catch on the hose cuff near the base of the machine and removing any blockages.

I hope that this information is useful to you.

Dyson DC14 Animal belt clutch slips.

The clutch problem needs to be looked at by a serviceman or professional who can repair Dysons. Slipping belts are often a sign of being overused or with carpet/textures that have caused the beater bar extra tension. I suggest if this model means much to you to get it repaired.

Need name of store to have serviced

Dear 1bamanana13,

Dyson recommends you have your vac serviced locally.
Look in the phone book yellow pages for a vac repair/store near you.
Dyson has a poor support site that does sell a few parts like the User Guide for $8.99! @ http://www.dyson.com/store/parts.asp?product=DC17-ANIMAL wow not down-loadable for free!

I wouldn't get to excited about repairs.
Maybe I can help you to fix it yourself!
What exactly is the problem?
