I haven't tried it on my computer, but the info comes from Microsoft website, so...

I went to Microsoft website in UK (it's probably available elsewhere). I selected Downloads and Trials. After, I clicked on the first image (Download Center). In the search bar, instead of All Download, I selected Drivers and indicated in the other bar, keyboard layout. It brings you to a window where you can download a file to modify the keyboard properties.

Ok my friend lets follow this path and do the changes.

click on start
click on control panel
click on regional languages and options
you will have a new window and on top u have two tabs
click on the second tab (languages).
click on details button (on the right side).
a new window will pop up with two option (settings and advanced).
keep it on settings.
click on add and there will be another window, now select the english (UK).
now click ok and it will add the language.
now before doing anything click the first language (US) highlight it and click remove so you will have (UK) only in there.
now hit ok and ok again

you are done

cheers

My new HP keyboard types @ character where the " is, and " where @ is. How can this problem be repaired?

The regional settings need to be changed.

Check Control Panel then go to Regional and Language Settings and change these from UK to US layout.

I hope this helps

Hi, my father-in-law has Acer One laptop and the "@" symobal only works when i press shift+2, which should be the quote mark. I have looked in the settings and can not find out how to change it - please...

HI You need to change the Keyboard Layout and Regional Settings of your PC from English US to English UK.

You need to go in Control Panel to do that.

If your Windows doesn't have a language pack installed you will have to reinstall windows and choose English UK when it ask you to set your Location and Time Zone.
Cheers

How can i change keyboard confiuration from us to uk on a acer aspire one many thanks

from your start menu go to settings/control panel then go to the regional and language tab. make sure you set all the options in there to the uk, on the second tab (languages) go on details and add uk keyboard there, remove the us 1 and apply. it will tell you you need to reset for it to take effect.

hope it helps

Acer extensa 5620 laptop cant get the @ button to come up

Sounds like your computer thinks got a foreign keyboard. (e.g. a US keyboard in the UK or vice versa).
On the UK keyboard "@" is two keys to the right of "L" (use shift) on the US keyboard it is on the "2" key.
Try that, if it works then it is just the settings. (Control panel -> locale I think, but you don't say which OS you're using).

I have a Sony VGN-NR430D laptop.I just got it. I cannotfigure out this keyboard. I get aÉ for a qustion mark I get aÈ for another one. I just canèt figure out how to use it and canèt...

I'm assuming it's a standard british keyboard

Click Start
Control Panel
Regional and Language Options
Languages
Details

If UK or UK Extended isn't selected click Add
Select your language and keyboard layout from the list
Click OK
Your keyboard should now show up in the box
Click the non-UK Keyboard setting
Click Remove
Click Apply then OK

Settings may not change until you restart.

If your keyboard isn't the standard UK layout, check your manual or the Sony website to find out which it is.

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Regional and Language Settings.
