Or maybe the screen is not working anymore.

can you see anything at all (i mean when u turn it on can u see the computer posting?)

Green power light comes on goes off then on again stays solid, moniter says no signal, mouse lights up, and three red lights on key board flash then nothing why?

If the monitor power light is on or flashing, but nothing displays, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor needs replaced.

I have toshiba equium a100-338 and the power button will not work

The cable (Wire) stays attached to the Power Button Board,

No, I'm wrong? The Flat Flex Cable (FFC) does come out of a ZIF connector on the Power Button Board?
You may wind up buying the Power Button Board, and Flat Flex Cable, then.

Or you may find a 'Mom and Pop' computer store, that can repair the cable.

YOU HIT THE POWER BUTTON AND YOU HEAR THE FAN RUNNING BUT THERE IS NO OUTPUT OF DATE COMING THROUGH ON THE LINE TO THE MONITOR, ITS NOT THE CABLE OR THE MONITOR SWITCHED OUT BOTH OF THEM THE FAN RUNS WHEN...

1. This is possibly due to a malfunctioning power supply if the monitor works on another PC then the summation is the power supply is not giving the +5/-5 -12/+12 volts to the mother board to power the video card and other peripherals.
2. Your power supply will need to be replaced.
I hoped this helps. Have a Great Day!

Could be Power Supply. If you get a least a little life then the switch is working. Guess if it goes out after you let go of the button... that could be the switch. If we are guessing and the PC is older than 3-4 years... I would think PS. A Motherboard switch is not mechanical... it is just a switch that if you short it once it is on... short it for 5 sec it is off.

Unable to recognize new DVD drive

sounds like it's missing a power source. Re-check to ensure both a power source and cable are firmly in place.

Well my toshiba satellite u405-s2820 turns on but the screen is just black... what I'm I to do??

Firstly unplug everything from the laptop (even the power) and remove the battery, hold the power button down for 10secs then plug the power back in only, see what happens...

If nothings changed...
Try and plug a normal monitor into the VGA port and turn the laptop on;
you will get the toshiba POST screen if the graphics card still works (then the actual screen is at fault)
if you dont then the graphics card is at fault..

[Just a thought... does the laptop bleep when you first turn it on?]

Let me know how you get on...

My toshiba satellite p200-140 laptop will not start up. the power button lights up but nothing else happens. it was working fine last night

My laptop had a similar problem. I left my laptop running and some time later when I went back to my laptop, it would not startup. The power light seemed to be on but the laptop would not function. I tried several things like pressing on the power key for some time without any success and also tried all sorts of alternate buttons and sequences.

I resolved the problem by first disconnecting the power cord then by removing the battery for 5 minutes. I then re-installed the battery then connected the power adapter.

As soon as I turned the power button 'ON', the laptop booted up again.

Hope this works out for you.

Regards,
Rick
