Question about Casio FX-9860G Graphic Calculator

1 Answer

Screen contrast? The writing on my calculator screen started to get lighter, and are now very faint. I changed the batteries, and when I turned it on the screen is still light. I'm not sure whether I should replace the back-up battery or maybe it's the contrast?!

Hello, I think I can help you.

1. Use the cursor keys to select the system icon,
2. Press the "exe" button then press F1 to display the
contrast adjustment screen.
3. The right cursor will darken the screen while
the left will lighten it.
4. Selecting the F1 (INIT) option will return the calculator
to it's initial default.

Hope this helps!

Dark screen

If calculator uses batteries, change the batteries. If it uses solar polar, expose it to direct sunlight or a powerful artificial light (lamp).
Also , in the Mode or Setup menu look for a contrast setting procedure. If nothing works, just buy another calculator and retire this one to the museum of calculators.

Screen just went blank - can bearly see a faint box in the screen

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

Screen too dim

You can try adjusting the screen contrast by pressing [2nd] and using the up and down arrows. Up will make it darker and down will make it lighter/more faded.

If it displays HEX, then it is doing calculations in hexadecimal numeration. If that is not what you want change the numeration mode to DECimal. As to its screen being faint, then its battery may be depleted. I may be time to get a new calculator?

Screen is very dark the numbers are there but barely readable

Your batteries may be getting low. Try changing the batteries. If this doesn't help, you can make the screen lighter by:

1. pressing and releasing "2nd"
2. pressing and holding the down arrow until you receive a desired display.

Just put new batteries in and there is a very faint display.

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it becomes very faint or even appears as if the calculator isn't turning on at all. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

My TI-81 screen is so faint. How do I make it

Turn the calculator on. Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the up-arrow key to darken the screen/increase the contrast.

Obviously, to go the other way you use the down-arrow key instead of the up-arrow.
