Hi I have two tv's and they both broke down today at the same time. There was no burning smell from them. Non of my neighbours had any problems. What could be the problem.

Hi Brian, running your angle grinder on reduced voltage (through overloading the petrol generator) will have caused the current in the grinder to be higher than it should be. This may not be what you expect, but it is a characteristic of rotating machines, they behave differently to resistive machines such as heating elements. You have not indicated how you come to the conclusion that the windings test OK. If you have just checked with an ohm-meter and see a continuity reading, this does not eliminate the possibility that the overheating resulting from over-current has broken down the insulation (evidenced by the smell and sparks) and you have short circuited windings. The grinder will run without a suppression capacitor, it is just there to minimise interference with you neighbour's (or your wife/girlfriend/daughter's :) ) radio. Replacing the capacitor will not restore your grinder, I reckon you have killed it, in spite of the fact that running it on a healthy supply was to quickest way to cool it effectively.

HI, it could be a belt broke,and or a pully that the belt
attaches to May have broke,or the pully unit needs to be replaced.When a belt breaks you will smell a burning smell.I would open to machine and check if it uses a belt.As this could be easy to fix.I hope this is helpful to you.Carrie

something burned means do not plug back in etc--consider getting an estimate for repair--not a do it yourself thing.

I would contact the store you purchased it from,,,explain the issue and go from there...

Have you Call Mitsubishi Company to make them aware of this ?

NO problems,Who care,might burning dust and grease that the smell.Take it aparts for a good clean with a air compressor.

Sounds like the belt is loose. The burning smell is the belt heating up. The motor shuts down because it's heating up from spinning on the belt.

hi there, you do have a big problem at your tv, the loud bang means a part is broken, maybe you will cost 50 % of the original price of your tv. ty
