TV AC adapter gone bad

The ac adapter quit after 3 quick blinks of the power. So I bought a new one ($106). Not shy, I opened the old one just to see and before long I had the problem traced to a resistor. The fuse didn't go bad but this resistor soldered to a aluminum plate won't give me any reading. So I want to buy a new resistor and see if that fixes the problem. Problem is, no one seems to agree on the size of said resistor. It is striped brown black blue silver green. It is generally brown and 3/8" long. I opened the new adapter and the resistor there (much smaller) was brown black blue gold space green. I think a 10mohm resistor with 5% tolerance will do the trick. But that fifth stripe is troublesome. Is the green stripe some indicator of reliability? I can't find a schematic for this anywhere. Sharp UADP-0243CEPZ

I just repaired one with the same model number. The 10 meg ohm resister isn't the problem because it's from the line in to the metal of the heat sink or something like that and any 10 meg ohm will work. The problem is no output of 13 volts. In my case the "cure" was replace the two 560mfd @35 volts capacitors mounted on the other end (opposite the power in cord) they were both open and there was a black oil like leakage from them on the p w board underneath them. You will have to remove the metal that almost hides them. Unsolder the transistors mounted on it and remove it as an assembly. Be sure to clean it up with lacquer thinner and observe the polarity of the capacitors.
PS I have been repairing TV for more then 50 years and I don't no what the green stripe is for either but it isn't of any importance in this case.

Why my pc presario x1000 power and lamp lights blink and the batteries can not be on my pc

I fix these laptops as a side business and sell refurbished ones on ebay...I've seen the problem you describe but I'd need to know more about how fast they are blinking, etc. When all the lights flash about 2-3 times per second, I've found it to be a motherboard issue normally caused by a faulty power jack. That can be fixed but it means disassembling the complete laptop down to the motherboard and either re-soldering or replacing the jack. If you have access to a charged battery, disconnect the AC adapter and try to get it to boot cleanly from the battery. This will tell you if the problem is at the jack or someplace else. Post your results and we'll go from here.

The old battery will not hold a charge when not plugged in so i bought a new battery. the battery came today in the mail and says "plugged in, not charging" and the battery light on the front is...

Im very sorry to hear that, please follow these simple steps for you to be able to isolate the exact problem.

1. Removed the battery.

2. Connect the laptop directly to the power outlet without using the battery just for the meantime.

3. Turn on the laptop. If the laptop is able to power on, that means that the AC adapter is working fine as well as the DC port. If the laptop is not able to turn on, it maybe the AC adapter itself or the DC port.

4. Try to use another AC adapter if possible, make sure that that AC adapter is working fine. If the laptop is still not turning on, the problem is with the DC port itself. In that case, you will need to replaced the Motherboard itself.

Hope this will help...Your response is very much appreciated...

Asus netbook ac power cord adapter stopped blue light on...not charging computer...what to do and need new one?

You need a replacement AC adapter, it's very cheap online.
1)Output Voltage is within +/- 5% of your old charger's output.
2) Output Current is the same or higher than that of your old charger.
3) Connector tip must fit securely into your laptop.

Motherboard or Internal Power supply?

I had the same problem with mine. It's just over heated. I replaced the fan, if you look up the part number in the manual, you can get it on eBay for a reasonable price.

Just replace the fan, or see if it is just dirty and clean it out, or, I just put mine on a stand that let it "air out" while I used it.

C4180 Won't Power On

Make sure the plug is all the way into the AC adapter. Then, you will need someone to verify the output of the AC adapter. You should have a 16VDC and a 32VDC output from the adapter. If that is good, you have an internal problem with the printer. If the output voltage(s) are missing you will need to replace the AC adapter.

Here are the specs:
  • Input voltage: AC 100 to 240 V ~ 1 A 50–60 Hz, grounded
  • Output voltage: DC 32 Vdc===940 mA, 16 V===625 mA

    My laptop battery won't charge

possible when the old AC adapter blew it took part of the power management circuit with it, This is the circuit that detects and charges the battery, I'm not sure whether this a seperate replaceable daughter card or whether it is part of the main motherboard. you will need to investigate this (or send it for a service)
