This is fault on the MIC within the unit. Now uninstall the driver software, remove the webcam and then reinstall the drivers once again. Now connect the web cam and open the properties settings on the webcam . check for normal settings . If the fault repeatsthe webcam must be rechecked on another PC. Take opinion to consult if the webcam is under warranty

Noone can hear me they do but it's faintly all they hear is a humming noise. Is this also b/c im using windows 7? please help i want to talk to my family and cant

the Lifecam VX-3000 is a current model sold by Microsoft and other outlets.

According to what I read about it, it does work with windows 7 and Vista. Maybe you should adjust the input volume through the driver screens for the product if you can get to the screen.

That is all I know.

Who ever i'm talking to cant hear me!

Make sure your webcam mic is set as the default mic
Plug in the webcam

Typical audio set up

Laptop with mic x webcam with mic x Vista x Yahoo Messenger 10
If you have an earlier OS, you may have to access your hardware from the Control Panel.

TEST SPEAKERS
Right click on speaker icon in System Tray or from Control Panel
Select "Playback Devices"
The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"
Left hand speakers followed by right hand should be heard

SET DEFAULT & TEST MIC
Click "Recording" tab.
To set required (webcam) mic as default - click on mic font to highlight and click "Properties"
In lower dropbox display "Use this device enable" click 'OK'
Click "Levels" tab and ramp up sliders ( adjust to suit later)
Return to "Recording". Test mic by speaking and make sure volume graph displays

Restart computer

CONFIGURE TO YAHOO MESSENGER

Open messenger - on top toolbar. Left click ( > ) Messenger > Preferences > Connection - Select 'no proxies' or 'connect direct to the internet' depending on the version of messenger you have
make sure your internet connection and country are correct in the lower two boxes > Apply > OK

Click ( > ) Messenger > Preferences > Video and Voice

I set up my web cam and i hear my sister when she talks but she cant hear me

well the first thing that you got to check is that if the web-cam has an inbuilt mic to it
If there is no mic then you will have to attach a seperate mic/headset for voice
Also check if its USB port or normal Audio/Video output...if it had audio/video cable then you will have to attach both the cable to the correct port in the Cabinet
If it has USB output cable with inbuilt mic then try to unistall and reinstall the driver software and attach the the webcam only after installing the drivers

Numer of reasons. Your Mic may be muted. Unmute it in the Audio icon in the right bottom corner. The settings of your IM are incorrect. Set the Mic.
