Motor is jammed or burnt out,is there a burning electrical smell?,if there is,and the belt on the motor turns freely by hand , then the motor is burnt out.

I tested my used vacuum and it smelt like it was burning and now it wont turn on at all ..

Possible the motor is burnt out. Before you throw the machine out take the bottom off and see if the belt is stuck or burnt or the brushes might be siezed. Just a thought.

Light bulb is burnt out and machine will not work

Could be an issue with the power cord. If it's not getting any power at all I would check that first. Is the light burnt out or just not comming on? If it is getting power but still not working there may be an issue with the motor.

Hi, Plugged my unit into a faulty socket and it shorted. Raised the fuse while it was still plugged in and heard a strong "pop". The end of the cord is burnt and open and obviously burnt through...

It is very unlikely that the motor has been damaged. There is no fuse, but the cord will need replacement. I have replaced hundreds of cords and never encountered motor damage.

My dyson dc07 has started to smell a bit of burning.

This will be 1 of 2 problems.

1. If its a burnt rubber smell then its the belt that has gone and will need to be replaced.
2. If its a metalic smell then your motor is burnt out.

Replacing the belt is easy enough, the motor is a lot more complicated and should be left for an expert.

I think i have burnt out motor. can it be repaired?

If the motor is burnt out, it can't be repaired. Replacement is an option, but the cost of a new motor plus labor may be more than the cleaner is worth.
