It seems that your iPhone 2G is in need of activation. To accomplish this, there are 2 ways:
A. (With AT&T as your service provider)
1. If you do not already have an AT&T sim card, contact AT&T and ask for an AT&T sim card to activate service with them. Choose your plan and insert the sim card in the iPhone.
2. Connect the iPhone to iTunes and you will be prompted to follow a few steps to proceed with the activation process.
3. Sync your iPhone for the first time.
Once completed, you will have your iPhone activated and ready to use on the AT&T network.
B. (Without AT&T as your service provider)
1. You will need to download an application to jailbreak your iPhone. (This will essentially remove certain restrictions on your iPhone 2G that prevent you from utilizing your iPhone on another network, among other things).
2. Connect your iPhone to the computer and run your jailbreak application of choice.
Once completed, your iPhone 2G will be activated and jailbroken. The "emergency call" message will disappear, though you will be prompted with a "no sim card found" message until a sim card from AT&T (or another GSM carrier) is placed in the sim tray.
remove older verion of itune, restart computer, install itune 7.5, (filehippo.com) reboot, restore your phone with 1.1.4 firmware, if there are no error message, you are good to go the next step of ziphone 3.0 and it should work.
Try this tijanotu:
You will need these files/program: 1. Ziphone 3.0 program 2. Ziphone Firmware Files 1.1.2, AND 1.1.4.To get these files open Ziphone 3.0 then Click Help and Support, then middle box on top of page Web Links Firmware Files 1.1.2 and 1.1.4 (to make it easier to find I always save everything to the desktop) 3. Kiphone http://www.iclarified.com/entry/comments.php?page=1&enid=1536#commentsanchor Not sure if all these steps are needed for success, I am just putting it all down becuase this is exactly what I did to get my cell signal back. First, I uninstalled itunes 7.7. Then I downloaded and installed itunes 7.5. At this point you will have to rename your itunes libray folder. Instructions are here: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1504 Next I downgraded the iphone to 1.1.2 using the link above. Downgrading steps: Connect phone to computer Open Ziphone 3.0 Click on Prepare for Upgrade (this will put iphone into DFU mode) Now you have to restore using itunes 7.5 (which will open up as soon as the iphone goes into DFU mode.) In itunes hold down SHIFT key (FOR WINDOWS) while pressing RESTORE. This will allow you to browse for the firmware file 1.1.2 you previously downloaded. Click on the 1.1.2 restore file and hit OPEN. This will begin the restoring process. You will probably get an error code noting the restore wasn't successful. Ignore this unless the error code number is in the 1600's. After this I tried to jailbreak my iphone using Ziphone 3.0 but wasn't successful so I: Repeated the restore process but his time restoring to 1.1.4. Got the same error saying that restore wasn't successful, which I ignored. Then I closed itunes, went into Ziphone 3.0 (iphone still connected to computer) and clicked on Do it all! Jailbreak worked fine except I still had no cell signal. To fix this I went to: Iclarified, (the BEST iphone website *******!!) Got Kiphone patch (see Number 3 above) installed it and got my cell service back.
You will need to jailbreak your phone and unlock it again.
restore your phone to 1.1.3 download ZiPhone (http://www.ziphone.org/) run ziphone -j (check for options to unlock your phone) If you don't have options there, you can install "anysim" from the "installer" app that will appear on any jailbroken iphone
