Initially the green light Must come on, but begins to flash within 5 mins or so,..this indicates that the Battery has been drained enough to start the charging process,..Most of the time we plugg in Battery with alittle bit of charge (even if it already has insufficient pwr to operate the device or tool) The charger's (diodes) will detect this resistance (back charges) and will maintain Green LED lites as long as 15min, until the battery is drained to its minimal charge capacity, before it begins to pump in a pulse of 0.6 amps/sec of charge in the battery. NiCad battery have (what is called) Memory. It is an amount of nuetralized charge in the cell when you force feed (charge) in a NiCad, that will begin to occupy (molecularly) your Nicad cell if you dont drain your battery completely between charges. In short- Drain your bat COMPLETELY before charging or it will accumulate Nuetral charges until your NiCad fails to hold full charge capacity..This will definely keep the green lite ON- when your NiCad is 90% occupied by this Nuetral charge and there's no space in your Nicad to dump charge into anymore...But you can still rescue your Battery if you so choose- buts thats another story.
