This can be caused by a dirty laser in the drive. Try cleaning the laser with a Q-tip and alcohol. If this does not fix the problem the laser may need to be replaced. Contact Microsoft to see if the unit is still under warranty if the cleaning does not help.
If the unit is not under warranty, go to www.wiredextreme.com or call toll free 1-888-389-3038. We are a console repair company based in Texas and we can clean/replace the laser for you. All of our repairs come with a 90 day warranty that covers the entire console, not only our repairs. We also offer extended warranties for up to 4 years at additional cost.
The most common reason for the Console saying reading discs is a bad drive. The following website sells the drives and does installs:
This drive should fix any reading issues you are having with your games, or issues inserting your games or ejecting them (or lack thereof). This is the entire DVD drive assembly mechanism replacement for your Console including a new laser. If your discs are not ejecting, or you cannot insert a disc -- or you can insert a disc but it will not load, this is what you need to get your Console going again!
This error is caused by not having the original DVD drive in
your 360.Only a professional can change
your DVD drive successfully.You will
need the original DVD drive to fix this problem.Without the original drive your Xbox won't be
playing disc based games again. A skilled professional with the original DVD
drive should be able to fix your problem.
i myself have the same problem and currently working on it. go to youtube and type in "how to fix a broken xbox360 dvd disk drive" this guy is amazing and helped me out with the red rings of death. all u have to do is buy a new disk drive for about $50 and take some parts apart.
All dvd drives in an xbox360 are married to the motherboard. The new dvd drive needs to be flashed with the bin from the old drive in order for it to play games. We can do this for you if your interested email us email@example.com
