You may need to buy an additional external GPS receiving antenna. I did for my 750.
Because we love our electronics so tiny, they use an internal antenna. The gold input on the back of it, is for an external antenna available for under $20 from ebay. I used it when I lost reception in NYC, and also in rural areas. The external one has q magnet on it, and you can put it on the roof and have the cord come in your window to the unit (better than arm out window!)

check here - where i bought mine

How do i do a hard reset on my nuvi 760

Master reset to factory settings and erase all user data: Press and hold the lower right corner of the screen while pressing the power button once. A dialog will come up asking to "Erase all user data".

Please note that all POI's and favorites will be deleted. The Nuvi will start as it came from the box after purchase.

Garmin nuvi 760 ...updating bluetooth firmware

You have a software problem with your NUVI . I recommend you to reset [ restoring default factory settings ] your NUVI

To reset your NUVI , please follow one of these procedures :

1:Turn the Nuvi on.

2:Touch the tools icon on the main screen. The tools icon is represented by a wrench surrounded by a blue circle.

3:Touch the "Settings" icon which appears as a wrench.

4:Push the "Restore" button at the bottom of the screen. A confirmation message will appear asking to confirm restoring the Nuvi to factory settings. Push yes to restore the factory settings
............................................................................................
Try this for hard reset .

Turn off Garmin device. Press down on bottom right corner of the touchscreen [ Don't let go ] , and then power on the GPS unit. You should be prompted whether do you really want to erase all user data, or asked if do you really want to start up in maintenance mode. Press “Yes” to reset (warning: all data will be erased and lost, so backup before proceeding) or enter maintenance mode.

After that you can try again with updating .

PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO RATE !

My Garmin Nuvi 760, after the Garmin bootup screen, goes to a press dot screen and then freezes. I have tried setting back to factory setting but that did not work. Any Suggestions?

try a master reset:
How to do a master reset:

1. Turn on the unit
2. While it's booting up keep pressing the bottom right corner of the screen.
3. A message will appear asking if you want to clear user data. Answer yes.
4. Bootup will continue. It's after this that you have to re-enter or confirm your country and time zone.

I hope this helps

Frequently loses satellites.

I can help you fix the satellite problem with your Garmin Nuvi 265WT.

Poor satellite reception, loosing satellites, and taking a long time to acquire satellites are issues that have been addressed by Nuvi 265WT firmware updates.

There are three steps to take to get your Nuvi 265WT running better than new:

  1. Back up your Favorites.
  2. Perform a Hard Reset.
  3. Download and then run Garmin 265WT WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

I hope that helps.

Garmin won't come on

plug it in to the wall charger or car charger for about 4 hours, then slide and hold power button for up to 15 seconds till it starts.

if that fails, unplug the nuvi then press and hold the lower right hand corner of the screen until you see the message " Do you really want to erase all user data?" remove your finger from the screen and select YES. (this will erase all your saved data) this should reset your nuvi to the factory settings.

use the web updater to update your nuvi once you get it started again.

you can get it HERE

let me know if you need further help.
