Filters needed for Old GE Zoneline 2100

Can anyone help locate some filters... They don't have to be new, just in decent shape and usable... Have a few of these models, still run good, however, need filters....

SOURCE: compressor keep running in off position

you could have a relay or contactor inside the unit welded closed, therefore compressor will keep operating when unit is off. replace compressor contactor.

SOURCE: hello, i desperately need some

This time I would be looking at the contactor...the contactor coil that creates the magnetic force to pull the contactor in is very susceptible to power surges also...
Follow the power wires back from the fan motor and the compressor and you will find the contactor... check for 24v power going to the coil...I think you will find power going to the coil, but the line voltage will not be going through to the fan motor and compressor.

Why is there a ***** smell?

I worked extensively on GE Zoneline AZ Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps while a Maintenance Superintendent at a Senior Citizen's Apartment Complex. Not knowing what type of smell to which you are referring, I can assure you that other than "burnt electrical" smells, the only smell that could possibly be produced would be that from within the INDOOR SPACE. Perhaps something has made its way into the INDOOR AIR FILTER? Perhaps that INDOOR AIR FILTER needs to be cleaned. To clean the INDOOR AIR FILTER, simply lift both of the filters from the front cover, take to your clean bath tub. Run EXTREMELY HOT WATER from the back of the filter to the front of the filter. Then, fill your bathtub 1/4 way with EXTREMELY HOT WATER. Add 1 cup of Hydrogen Peroxide and 1 cup of Real Lemon Juice. Set both filters in this solution for 30 minutes; then rinse with clear water. Set filters up to dry for at least 2 hours in the sun or an air breeze. Replace filters into the GE Zoneline.

Also, not knowing how OLD your GE Zoneline system is, the COILS may need to be cleaned. To do this, simply turn OFF your GE Zoneline unit and remove the front COVER of the unit. Next, mix in a spray bottle 4 packets of LEMON flavored KOOL-AID (without SUGAR) and water. Shake well. Spray the INDOOR COILS of your GE Zoneline unit with the entire contents of this mixture. Let set for at least 10 minutes. Then turn your GE Zoneline to the COOL position. The citric acid in the lemon kool-aid will be forced through the coils to continue to remove any dirt, dust, debris and effectively CLEAN those coils. This will also provide you a LEMONLY odor within your room. Simple and cheap.

Enjoy your GE Zoneline unit.

I have a GE BTB736A100A2. Does the dinosaur have an air filter? If so, then where is it? Thanks.

Hi, if this is a package unit, both heat and air all in one, the filter normally is put in a return vent in the ceiling indoors. If you have a split system, outdoor condenser and indoor blower unit, it may be the same, in your ceiling or on a lower wall near the furnace. It may also be inside of the indoor unit either above or below the blower fan. Depending on the sq. footage, you may have up to 2 or 3 return air filters. If you have looked through out the home, and you don't see any grill, it would have to go in the indoor unit if this is a split. The filter is always located on the return side of the unit, the side that draws air back over the indoor coil. If you can find nothing, you may need to buy some filter media at a hardware store, and try and cut a piece to fit where the air flow is being drawn back into the blower compartment, not the supply air coming in, but going back out where the indoor coil is located to catch all of the dust. Just take your time and look for any register that you can feel air being sucked into, and this is where you can put a filter. If you do find the grill and old filter, it will have the size and a arrow on it and it will go in with the arrow going in the direction of flow, you can feel it. I hope this has given you some direction and help.

Problem with GE Zoneline 5200 model

Heat pumps have saftey circuits that prevent liquid flooding of the compressor. Inadequate airflow across the evaporator in cooling can trip this circuit. Have your package unit serviced with particular attention to cleaning the evaporator coil and be sure your filters are clean and changed frequently in the summer months. Hope this helps GL!

usually the compressor is broken. its inlet valve and the exhause valve sometimes are not as gastighten as before.

if that is true, your room cannot be cooled down.the compressor has to be replaced.

GE Zoneline 2100 heater/ac won't heat/doesn't shut off

well, it's been almost 4 years since this was posted, but it's the selector knob. these things are HORRIBLY designed (the selector knobs) very easy to break if someone pushes it to the side too hard.

ASSUMING when you cleaned it, you didn't get the controller knob wet, which could cause heat and ac to come on at the same time. If after a few days, it's still the same, it's the selector. I've replaced a million of them (ok, not really a million, but, a lot.)

Temperature varies 13 degrees around setpoint on aux heat

I don't have the book for this particular unit but, check the sequencers that control the electric heat mode, as the regulator heat pump works good. The part may have a time or temperature delay that is too long for you. Also if it has a remote thermostat, check the heat anticipate setting. You will have to check the installation manuel, but its usually .6 to .8, but I don't think that is the problem.
