When the computer is on try using that computer cleaner compressed air that comes in the can on the fan that is not working. If you hit it with the compressed air and get the fan to spin and then it starts to spin on it's own the fan could be sticking. This will cause overheating and the computer could shut down like it's doing. Also does it do it when the battery is on or a/c power or both?
Sounds as if the video card is going down. This is a common problem on these laptops. Have you checked Device Manager to see if the drivers are installed. Hit Win key and pause then select hardware and Device Manager. If nothing seems out of place there then I would most certainly suspect the video card. This is part of the motherboard and not replaceable.
As another check try connecting the laptop to an external monitor via the VGA connector at the back. The resolution problem should be resolved then.
Hello you need to download right bios and burn it to a CD, then you need to boot from that cd. plz give me the exactly model of your computer? and I will search for the bios update. you can boot from the recovery cds before you have "installed" the right bios. let me know the exact model and I will give you more instructions what todo.
