Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have a 4GB flash drive. It has been working fine. Then all of a sudden I can't save to it, and I can't delete from it. A message says that it is write-protected. It tells me to un-do it, but I can't figure out how.

Well if u can check there is (in alot of flash disks) some kind of key (button) to lock it and unlock (mostly on the sides of the flash disk).

if there is nothing then sorry to tell you its time to format

Click on Disk Management
In the Right Panel of the drive you wish to fix

When Volume is deleted
Click Create Volume
Follow the steps
For small drives use Fat32 not NTFS

4GB ScanDisk Cruzer Micro was working fine now the storage capacity displays 2x 68MB drives dispite being formated. How do i restore it back to 4GB.

access the drive through administration manager and delete any and all partitions. Then create a partition for the full 4gig drive, reformat and that should give you back your full 4 gig.. Just make sure you backup anything that is on the drives BEFORE you delete the partitions.. administration manager is located in the windows control panel. MAKE SURE you are accessing your usb drive when you delete the partitions as once you delete them you can never get them, or any info on the drive back. If you accidently delete your hard drive partition, you will have to start again with your operating system from scratch.. SO BE CAREFUL...

Cruzer 4GB Zip will no longer read

If your drive does dhow up, but the data is not there there was somehow a short in the drive, like ultimitloozer said if you don't safely remove hardware that short can corrupt data, or delete it. You will need to get a software that searches your drive for corrupt data and see if you can restore it, but that is unlikely. Sorry. However you drive will still work, but you will just need to be careful

Okay. Try putting it in on the back of your computer and tell me if it lights up at all, even if it flashes once.
