Cord kinks up and the outer covering is starting to peal

I have a dyson "ball" vacuum. The cord is constantly kinking up..really bad...and the covering is starting to come off of it. Also have a complaint about the extension....not nearly long enough...and is cumbersome to use.

Contact the manufacturer about the may have some kind of  a defect.  If they don't think so, you can replace the cord.  You may use a quality extension cord with the unit.  It should be rated at least 20 amps and be a 14 gauge or lower number.

How do I replace Dyson DC24 plug

Cut off the old plug end with wire cutters. Next, strip off the outside cover of the cord about and inch off. This will expose the black and white wire inside. Then strip off the coating on the black wire and white wire. Take your new plug end and slide the plug over the cord. Use a phillips screw driver to wire the black and white wire to the terminals.

How do i attach a cover to the dyson 41

Hey this is Jeremy with Crucial Vacuum,

To attach the cover on your Dyson DC41, first lay it flat on the ground with the handle facing up. Next, place the cover over your filter on the roller-ball located near the brush-roll of the vacuum. Rotate the cover clockwise until you hear 3 clicks and you'll be all set to continue vacuuming.

To help you see this visually please refer to the link below. Specifically, you can look at page 6 under section B.

Filter in the ball will not remain seated when vacuuming starts.

If that filter element is too loose either put a layer or two of black electrician's tape around the outer edge, all the way around. Then try the fit, it should be snug, not immortal.

The Beater Bar keeps Shorting out, we had to replace it a while back and it was working really good, then it started shorting out, do you know what the problem is?

HighnTools posted this solution a while ago. There are so many people having similar issues. This might be related to your problem: I have finally fixed my sister's dyson dc 15 beater bar problem. It was just 2 tiny broken wires connect to circuit board lead to the beater bar. The wires broke where they go through the black rubber gommet. You need a torx screwdriver tx 15 to remove 2 plastic covers to access the wires. When looking at the front of the vacuum, the gray covers located on the right side of the vacuum. 1 big cover with a black rubber gasket and other small gray cover is on the rotating ball area.

The above by highntools.

My dyson will not switch on , the last time I used it the power faded in and out a couple of times I wiggled the lead and it continued to work. However today it will not power up, I have changed the fuse...

hi from uk the symptoms you described is a classic fault with where power wire has broken within the main cable usually at pint where it enters the vac ? hence wriggling wire temporarily makes contact are you sure the wires in plug are connected into their pins securely ? constant pulling on wire whilst vacuuming does cause this fault also kinking in wire you can diy replace the whole cable and replace with longer length as i usually advise so you can reach further without having to swap sockets ? hope this helps/inspires you ?

Cord getting stuck, won't come fully out.

Hi Karen. Chances are your cord has a kink in it which is preventing it from coming all the way out. Pull the cord out almost as far as it will come and then twist the cord one way or the other and pull to get the kink out of it. Once you have it all the way out you can start closest to the machine and smooth out the entire cord to be sure that the kinks are more or less permanently gone.

The hose kinks up

Hello annfromnc228, What i would suggest trying is either extending the cord only to which you need or keeping the cord tense and firm so the hose cann kink up. If you are looking for a replacment hose i suggest "buy DC07 cyclonic vacuum hose" and you should be able to purcahse another one from there. If this is not the case please write back and i would gladly help.
Please post what you do and how you did it I look forward to your posts
