Menory card unreadable etc.

Message on camera suddenly reads CARD UNREADABLE and press ok to format card on doing this further message reads CARD LOCKED and to press OK to format it but it wont let me Why has this suddenly happened? My HP R707 just recently started doing the same thing, I can load the images on the computer and clear the card off and it will work again - it does this on 3 different cards I have, so it's not the memory cards causing the problem.

When I insert my sd card into my camera it says memory card inserted please change to internal ram.. What will I do?

I think you may mean it says 'no memory card inserted...'etc. but most cameras don't need to say this when there really is no card in place - if there is any internal memory they just switch to it automatically. Perhaps the garbled message is because the card is recognised but unreadable so you might like to try formatting it, either by using the (camera's) menus, or by right clicking the card's icon in the My Computer page (on PC), to bring up the format option

My hp photosmart r707 gives me a message (card is unreadable) i have inserted a new card and i get the same message each time.

SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards. Some cameras have a capacity limit, and won't work with cards that are too large (in memory terms).

One thing you could try is formatting the card. There is a function in the camera menus to do this. If it won't format or gives an error when you try, then there may be an issue with the connectors in the card slot or the card may be incompatible. However, I would expect the camera to report that the card needed formatting rather than that it was unreadable, if formatting was the only problem.

We insert a memory chip into our Kodak EasyShare C190 camera. The read-out informs us that the memory card requires formatting. We click on "OK." The camera goes into a "formatting" mode, then informs us...

Your camera is only supporting SD/MMC Cards (up to 2 GB) and KODAK SDHC Cards (up to 8 GB).
The card that you currently have might be faulty. Please try another card.
You might also need to switch the camera over to saving pictures directly onto the SD card.1: Menu, Cam settings, Chose AUTO or SD card option Press OK
Note: If the SD card isn't in the camera or is unreadable the camera will automatically go back to saving you taken pictures on the internal memory.

Card is unreadable

Take out the card and transfer the photos to the computer. After you verify that your photos are safely on the computer, reinsert your card in the camera and proceed with the formating.

"Disk is unreadable" message when inserting a CF Card - Macintosh OS 9.x

Certain system software is needed to allow a Macintosh (running Macintosh OS 9.x or earlier) to access mounted compact flash cards. If this required software is not installed the computer will not be able to recognize the card and will display the following error: DO NOT press the "Initialize" button, as this will completely erase the card and destroy all images. Click the "Eject" button and then enable the necessary system software. The following Extensions or Control Panels need to be activated: File Exchange - Control Panel Foreign File Access - Extension The "Extensions Manager" Control Panel (found under the "Apple" menu) can be used to enable these items. After switching them "On" restart the computer to apply the changes. After restarting the computer insert the card and it will mount on the desktop like any removable disk.
