The firmware upgrade would have been downloaded to your pc, you have to initialise the upgrade within the router settings, from the saved upgrade file on your pc; if you did get this far try a reset using the reset hole on the back or undeside and start again.

Tip

Firmware upgrade

NEVER EVER UPGRADE UR FIRMWARE OF ANY HARDWARE(MP3, SOUNDCARD, BIOS, MOBILE, DVD PLAYER, ETC)
UR HARDWARES DO NOT REQUIRE ANY UPGRADE OF FIRMWARE
THEY ARE MENT TO WORK THE WAY THEY WERE MFG
MOST OF THE MFGS DONT RECOMEND ANY FIRMWARE UPGRADE UNLESS THERE IS A LARGE CHANGE IN THE FUNCTION OF THE HARDWARE AFTER U BOUGHT THE HARDWARE AND IF IT IS COMPATIBLE FOR THE CHANGE.

SO NEVER EVER UPGRADE FIRMWARES OF UR HARDWARES.

IF U DO, IT WILL BE AT YOUR OWN RISK AND YOU MAY DAMAGE THE EQUIPMENT / TOTALLY LOSE THE HARDWARE FUNCTIONS.

NetGear RangeMax WPN824 Wireless Router (WPN824NAR) Wireless connection drops in and out regularly but frequency of this is unpredictable duration is usually a few seconds. Works find on direct ethernet...

Upgrade the Firmware of the router :
First you should check the version of you WPN824 (v1,v2 or v3). If there are no Version after the model number, it should be a version 1. Download the Firmware of your router given the correct version at this link :

http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/WPN824.asp

This is assuming that other wireless laptops has the same problem onyour wireless router. If other Laptops works great on your wirelessrouter without dropping any wireless connection, then you shouldconsider upgrading the wireless adapter on you own laptop.

  3. Default User name : admin / password : password
  4. Click Maintenance > Router Upgrade.
  5. Click Browse and locate the file you just downloaded.

Go to the Belkin support section at their website: http://www.belkin.com/support/

Look for your model router and download the "firmware" upgrade for it. Once you go install the up to date firmware try to give the router a reset. Hopefully doing all that will get the router working again and you connecting to the Internet.

My wireless g belkin looses connection constantly

go to their website and check for a firmware upgrade. YOu may also be able to change the channel it operates under in the software it came with. You may be getting interference from something else in your household. Microwave ovens and portable phones (not cell phones) usually operate in the same frequency wireless adapters do.

I upgraded my Linksys WRV54G firmware from 2.39.2 to 2.39.2e and completely lost internet connectivity

hi there,
have you tried to reset your wireless router so that the default settings are being used, then try reconfiguring it again for your Internet connection.. then try to connect wireless again ... sounds like your router may have lost its settings which happens for some firmware upgrades.....

or

Wireless Interferences
Neighboring wireless networks or any appliance that operates on the same frequency as your wireless device (e.g. 2.4 GHz) may cause interference and therefore may affect your wireless connection and signal.
Common sources of interference are:
  • Neighboring wireless networks
  • Microwave ovens
  • 2.4 GHz cordless telephones
  • Bluetooth devices
  • Wireless baby monitors
To solve the problem, change the channel and SSID on your Access Point. Preferred channels to use are 1, 6 and 11 since they’re considered non-overlapping channels.
