The firmware upgrade would have been downloaded to your pc, you have to initialise the upgrade within the router settings, from the saved upgrade file on your pc; if you did get this far try a reset using the reset hole on the back or undeside and start again.

try to change the wireless channel on the router and check if that works.
If you face the same problem again then try to upgrade the firmware of the router.
Once you upgrade the firmware of the router, you will need to reset the router. and once you reset the router , you will loose all the settings of the router and it will come back to the factory default settings.
you will need to reconfigure the router.

I'm trying to upgrade the firmware on a belkin wireless router

upgrade of Firmware is at your risk...
never upgrade Firmwares....they are not ment for that....
your hardware may be rendered useless after firmware upgrades....the chip inside your hardware is programed to run based on a certian program installed as a firmware from the factory....sometimes upgrades will screwup your hardware....so be careful and do it at your own risk...

Hey ! it seems that there is a problem with the Firmware of the router.
The wireless connection is dropping.
You can try to upgrade the firmware.
Download the firmware from the support web site of the router manufacturer. and upgrade the firmware.
make sure that you will upgrade the firmware using the wired connection to the router NOT with the wireless connection.

Firmware Upgrade For Vista

That update is not for Vista but for your router, you need to log in to it as admin and find the firmware update option and give the bin file to it.
And I storngly suggest to not to try this via wireless connection, you can easily ruin your router that way, use rj45 ethernet cable during the update.

And for the obvious question about how to log in to it's admin menu easiest way to have a look in to it's documentation and there you should find a step by step guide with possibly some pictures.

Upgrade not completed...

It sounds like you tried to upgrade the firmware on the router and it got interupted or did not complete for some reason.....You may be able to use the reset button and reset the router and try again.

Otherwise...the router may be corrupted so badly that there is no fix. Contact D-Link for suggestions for repairing corrupt firmware.

After upgrade firmware, it is malfunction

there is a possibility that the firmware upgrade was interupted, please try to press the reset button on the device for around 20-30 seconds, after this and you still have issues, please try to contact D-Link and check the warranty status of the device.

no need for the recovery tool yet, try a firmware upgrade or reflash (upgrading using the lates same version), because the firmware tool will format the hard drive and will give you a fresh unit. never interupt the firmware upgrade process.
