Re: Tele Lens

Tried Sony? Most converters work well, but you need to find the diameter of the thread on the front of the lens.. then go from there. I use a Sony (Well, Leitz) on my handycam.. has a 37mm thread and gives the 35mm equivalent of an 800mm lens. Quite adequate for most surf footage shot from the beach.

It sounds like a sensor problem. I recently ordered repairs on one of my Sony video cams. They had to replace the lens and the sensors, but they are also refurbishing it. When it gets back, it will be in "like new" condition and ready for many more years of quality service. The repair cost is minimal compared to replacing the cam. I recommend calling Sony Company Tech support, wade through their telephone menu-maze and talk with the camcorder repair department. Here is the number as listed on their website: Priority Service Line (for U.S. only): 239-768-7547

TIPS to help protect your camera: No matter how tempting it is to film a beautiful sunset, pointing the camera at the sun for extended times (even a few minutes) can damage the lens and sensors. Regarding filming at the beach (especially if windy), or in snowy or rainy conditions without weather protection, the moisture, sand, etc can, and will mess up a camera. It

Dont know how to get pictures

Well maybe making sure the battery is fully charged, remove the front lens cap if one is on camera, find the button to press to start to film and take aim at a thing to film that looks good, that's how most people get pictures.

My lens is cracked on my flip cam, how do i fix it?

They aren't too hard to open up and take apart. There's a glass piece the covers the actual lens and I'm guessing that is what broke. Once the flip is in pieces you can remove the glass piece and it will operate fine without it. If you want to replace it, you can either get a broken flip and use it for parts, but there's a pretty sticky, tough ring of tape holding that glass piece in place. You could also try a very clear piece of plexiglass and cut it to size. Haven't tried that one myself, but it may work.

Zoom problem

Sreejith, I am sorry to hear that you're having this problem with your JVC, it is really a good camera. A possible problem in your camera is the harness that connects the lens can come loose and the camera looses its feedback from the lens position sensor. The lens does not know what position it's in so it defaults to its startup position. I would refer the service to a qualified service tech, there are many items that can be damaged in this camera if it is disassembled incorrectly. Good luck my friend. Joe Weibel Custom Electronics (
