Question about Canon PIXMA iP1600 Printer

1 Answer

I have an iP-1600 Pixma printer. I have replaced both ink cartridges and the printer does print; however, the box still comes up saying "printer ink is low; replace cartridge." How do I get rid of this message?

I think you are using 40/41 or 830/831 cartridge sets. Ink cartridge 41 are now a days found defective, even if it has original company mark. Tell your vendor to replace it with genuine one. Neglect the message "ink volume low". Try to print in gray scale mode avoid colour printing. At least you will be able to get your documents printed.

If you set to black and wite it should also print pictures by the way, it does not accept grayscale because it won't be able to print in grayscale photo quality.

Cartradge installed wrong

The cartridge could be bad. Try some others if they don't work then the printer is bad. I have a Canon Pixma MX300 and it seems it could be very easy to not get them seated completely.

Make sure each cartridge is completely horizontal with the table/surface it's on. If it's leaning toward you slightly it is probably not seated all the way.

The cartridges look similar to mine. You put them in the slot and push back and up until they pop into place.

Printer Pixma IP 1600

Verify your ink cartridges have the 'Tape: removed from the top of the cartridge.

IF the tape has not been removed a vacuum is present in the cartridge and it will not allow the ink to flow smoothly.

Also try a few cleaning cycles.
