Question about Casio Boss Business Organizer

Open Question

Casio BOSS fs-8300

I have connected the SF-8300 using the casio link cable to the serial port on my computer. The computer does NOT bring the plug-and-play notification for this device. I may need a driver to perform the data download operation. Any thoughts? Thanks, Peter

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Sorry, if it had COMPLETELY died then there is no way to get that info back. That's why at tech support we always recommended that you change the batteries when they started to get low. Sorry again.

SOURCE: Where can I download a

Casio Japan has published some of their SF Digital Diary manuals online at http://world.casio.com/sf/download/en/manual/ .

You can also try the Casio support web sites for other countries, as they sometimes keep manuals around that Casio Japan has deleted. You may have to look around the site a little, as sometimes the technical support pages are not linked to the public pages. For example see: http://www.casionz.co.nz/Site/Pronto/Files/user_manuals/sf4000%20USER%20MANUAl.pdf (substituting some other model numbers like SF4600B also works with this site).

http://www.usersmanualguide.com/casio/pocket_viewers has manuals posted for many old and new Casio Digital Diary models (thanks to Matt W. Ammons for the link), but one of the sites they link to at Casio has gone offline, so some of the links don't work.

IMSL Software has created downloadable generic user manual for all Casio diary models. This brief manual attempts to cover all models and major features in one document, so it doesn't go into a lot of step-by-step detail, but it does cover all the basics for all common models. The manual is a Word document in Zip-compressed format, so you must have an unzip utility like WinZip installed to open it.

To order a new original manual from Casio in the USA or Canada for any Digital Diary model, try the contact numbers listed immediately above under Casio Contacts.

(the web site structure changes too frequently to link directly to individual pages - select Support for technical support, or select Casio World to find the rep nearest to you)

Casio actively removes information on any products that they are not currently shipping, so don't expect to find much support for Digital Diaries on their web site. You might find more on some of the International sites like Casio UK.

You need to make sure you have a Casio cable to connect the two machines. If you have no serial port in your computer, make sure you have a USB to serial converter as well as the Casio link cable.

What do I need to communicate between my Casio digital diary and my PC?

Most Casio Digital Diary models have a small 2.5mm serial port built into the side of the unit. It can be used to communicate between two Casio Digital Diary units, or with another serial device such as a PC (or a serial printer on some older models).

To connect between two compatible Digital Diary units, you need only a 3-lead crossover cable with a 2.5mm plug on each end, such as Casio's SB-60 or SB-62 cable. You can buy these cables from a Casio accessory supplier such as Windows Link.

To connect to a standard 9 or 25-pin RS232 PC serial port, you need a special Casio-specific adapter cable (more information below). The Casio diary uses its own unique communications protocol, and requires a Casio diary backup program on the PC. You can build your own cable or buy one by mail order, and use it with shareware software such as XLink/Win, or you can buy a kit complete with cable and software such as those sold by Casio or Windows Link

For more information on serial cables, see Cables. For more information on software and kits see What communications packages are available for the Casio digital diary?

Problem with serial connection with AMD motherboard

Software that accesses serial ports usually allow you to specify WHICH port you want to connect via.

Your new board should have COM1 and possibly COM2... but perhaps your old setup was running from COM3?

Connect the Casio to COM1, and check the software you are using... set that to "look" at COM1 also. That should work!
