LG Ground terminal block wire exploded. Need to replace entire harness and 4-prong power cord. Do I really need to replace the entire harness or can I buy a new terminal block and cut the black grounding...

This is not a common thing to happen so, If that wire exploded the advice is to get first an electrician to check on the wiring of the house, secondly call a service technician to check on the dryer. Good luck.

Replacing electrical cord

if you buy a color coded cord and plug then red and black go on thee 2 outer terminals of the power terminal and the white wire goes between these as this is the neutral connection and if it has a green ground wire connect this anywhere to the metal case of the unit, if its a gray cord with no colors then the 2 outer wire on the cord go to the outer terminals on the units power terminal block and the center wire on this cord goes to the center terminal on the unit

Need to replace 4 prong cord with a 3 prong cord on a new 500 series dryer.

On the back of the dryer, remove the screw(s) that hold the access cover to the back panel that cover the terminal block where the cord goes through the back panel and connects to the wiring terminal power block, loosen the two screws on the cord clamp the clamp it to the back of the dryer just enough to release the cord, remove the four nuts / screws that are connecting the 4 wires from the cord to the terminal block and or the back of the dryer, with the new 3 wire cord just match the colors on the terminal block with the same color wires that are connected to the other side of the terminal block, red, black on the outer most terminals and the white or green to the middle terminal, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU PLACE A JUMPER WIRE/STRAP FROM THE MIDDLE TERMINAL WHERE THE WHITE OR GREEN WIRE CONNECTS TO THE TERMINAL BLOCK OVER TO THE CASE/CABINET OF THE DRYER, THIS CAN CONNECT TO THE CASE AT ANY AVAILABLE SCREW NEAR THE TERMINAL BLOCK! In short this means that the neutral and ground of the dryer must be connected together in a 3 wire set-up.
GOOD LUCK!

red and black are the 2 power phase wires and go on L1 and L2 terminals or on an inline power block the 2 outer terminals(polarity)doesn't matter, then white is the center or N-neutral terminal, then green or green/yellow stripe is chassis safety ground and is connected to the metal frame of the unit

Mains wire at back of fridge has come out how do i re-wire it

Hi, are you saying that the main power cord has been pulled loose from all connections? Has any componants come along with it? Wiring a power cord is fairly an easy task if you are familar some what with wire colors for a 120 volt power cord. You should be able to take a good look at where it has come apart and reconnect the cord with wire connectors, as Hot would be black to black, and white is nuetral, so white to white and green for ground to the appliance. Now, If you have accidently pulled out the wiring from the compressor terminals, as the start, run, and common terminal, I need to no this to quide you through this, as there is also a overload relay that is wired through the common terminal to protect the compressor against an overload. Please get back to me if this has happened.
Sincerely,
Shastalaker7

Dryer did not come with electrical cord so I bought one.

The following link explains how to correctly install a power cord on your dryer:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3575913-installing_a_220_vac_appliance_cord

The main difference between the 3-wire and 4-wire configuraiton is how the Neutral (WHITE) wire and Ground (GREEN or BARE COPPER) wire are terminated on the terminal block in the back of the dryer:

- In a 3-wire configuration, these two wires are connected together via a ground strap at the terminal block.

Terminate the wires at the terminal block by matching the corresponding colors:

RED to RED (HOT) 120VAC
BLACK to BLACK (HOT) 120VAC
WHITE to WHITE (Neutral) 0VAC - Neutral should also have a ground strap attached that grounds it to the equipment cabinet or ground lug.

NOTE: Newer homes built after the year 2000 REQUIRE a 4-wire configuration to be in complaince with the National Electric Code. In addition, some newer appliances may not work correctly without a 4-wire power cord.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you

Used maytag electric dryer installation question

First off, you should be wiring your power cord directly to the terminal block inside the dryer. If someone just cut off the cord that is terminated inside the dryer, and you are attempting to splice the new cord onto the old one.. you are making a mistake.. take the new cord and bond it directly to the terminal block inside the dryer. If you have a new 4-wire power cord, you are probably dealing with a red/black/white and green wire. ( assuming it is a four prong plug).. The black and red wires are the power lines themselves and should mate with the red and black wires inside the dryer. The green ( is frame ground) and is normally bonded to a stud near the terminal block or the dryer frame. The white is the neutral line and is normally tied to the terminal in the middle and between the red and black tie points.. In line splices should not be done on this appliance.. Hope this helps..
