Air Conditioner 1999 Buick LaSabre. There is cool air coming out of the vents be the windshield but does not cool the rest of the car off. The vents on the driver and passenger side do not work at all. I took it to a auto place and they said $110 for putting freeon in and charging it. Then they said the vents were a electrical problem and would cost me a ton more. I know that I need to put more freeon in it and if there is a leak get it fixed then I need to find out it the vents are being blocked and get that fixed also. Would i be on the right track?

A 1999 LeSabre shouldn't be running on freon.  It should be using R134-A refrigerant.  Recharging a R134-A system should not cost that much, you can get a kit at Walmart for about $25.00.

To answer your question , yes that what needs to be done. Sounds like the vents aren't blocked, just that the control motors aren't opening them.  It may be a bad switch, lose wire.  So to get it working as you were told you would need that fixed.  he price sounds a little high if all he is doing is charging it, without checking for leaks.

When I turn my air conditioner on, the air blows out on the dashboard for the windshield and not from the vents. What can I do??

The blend door actuated by solenoids may not be working correctly causing a/c cool air to come out of the windshield vents, rather than the regular front vents.

The dash air vents on my 1995 Buick LaSabre do not seem to be blowing any air. Air flows only from the windshield and the floor. What could it be?

The distribution of the air flow works off a blend door which is operated by a motor. The motor is faulty or the mode switch in the control head were you set the mode settings is at fault

The air conditioner on my 19998 Buick LaSabre has been slowly dying. For few weeks air would cool only with higher acceleration. Now, it's not cooling (maybe just short bursts with 55+ mph)..could it be...

sounds like freon, and it possibly has a slow leak on a seal or gasket. Go to a Carquest or an Advance Auto store and buy a can of sealer for 134.It comes with a hose for easy filling. It has sealent, small amount of 134, and oil to lubricate the system. Try that, follow directions, and that should be a possible fix. It costs around $21.95 good luck.

A sensor would turn the compressor on and off all the time. If it stays running you most likley have a weak compressor. Signs are not cooling at idle and cools better while driving but not cold as it should be. An
ac gauge set will tell if it is bad.
