Battery replacement for the Aspire

I've figured out that to use my laptop I have to take out the battery and run it on AC, but if I replace the battery, will the problem be solved? And should I get a factory replacement or is there a better one out there? It seems pointless to have a laptop that I'm stuck plugged in to, but if a new battery will make it better than I will be a happy camper.

Most likely it's just the battery. Laptop batteries have fail safes in them that keep a bad battery from damaging the machine. This sounds as if a fail safe has engaged, and a replacement battery will fix it. Keep in mind that there is the possibility that the problem lies with the power management system on the motherboard. The chances are slim, and you won't know until you replace the old battery. I've used both factory and after market batteries, and have had both good and bad luck with both, so I'm going to say that it doesn't matter, and you can save quite a bit by going with an after market battery. Batteries are funny in that you can get two batteries that are the exact same make and model, and they will have totally different characteristics. One may hold a charge better and longer than the other, and one may last longer than the other before replacement, just like flashlight or any other batteries.

Yes. A new battery will help. Know a replacement costs about $70-100. Any compatible battery will do, and a charged spare will give you between 4-6 hours of total run time.

Replace the battery...

Always showing the massege consider replace your bettery

Simply put, replace the battery with a true OEM battery.
I've gotten this on a number of notebooks and their batteries. It's really a matter of whether you use the notebook more on battery power or on AC power, because keeping a battery connected inside a notebook that runs mostly on AC power is a sure way to burn it out sooner.
Essentially, if all you use your notebook for is at home, or where you have access to AC power, then just disconnect the battery and run it on the AC adapter.
If you use it more for portability and rely on the battery, then I'd recommend replacing the battery, and be wary of offshore manufacturers who say they offer OEM replacements at really low cost. It's so true that you get what you pay for, especially with respect to notebook batteries.
When you do get the new battery, I'd suggest getting it fully charged before using it for the first time, and trying to cycle it down (discharging) the battery as low as possible between re-charges to extend the battery life.
As I mentioned previously, continuously keeping most batteries plugged in while operating on an AC adapter tends to limit the useful life and charge duration of these types of batteries, including both NiMH and Lithium (although the latter tends to have less of a "memory effect").
I hope this helps!

Laptop power charging stops and laptop later shuts down and no charging

First you should figure out what caused this problem. Here below are some possible cause:

AC Adapter Problems
If the AC adapter is not working properly, then the charging won't occur at all. An AC adapter, with lower than required voltage settings, will not be able to charge the battery. See to it that the AC adapter matches the laptop battery's requisite settings. A loose wire or internal breakdown, may render an AC adapter useless. Changing the adapter all together might solve your problem.

Power Management Software Problem
Sometimes, the problem is merely with the power management software. This is the classic case, when the laptop charges when switched off, but doesn't when the computer has booted. The software may have gotten corrupted which must be causing the problem. In such a case, go to the device manager section and uninstall the power management software. In case of Windows XP, uninstall 'Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listing' from the device manger section. Take care that you do not install any other AC adapter driver software. Then go for a 'hardware scan', which will automatically identify the battery and reinstall the latest version of the drivers again. That will restore the charging facility of your laptop.
Internal Charging Circuitry Problem
If neither the AC adapter, nor the power management software has a problem, then problem can be with the internal charging circuitry of the laptop. In this case, there is little you can do, other than send the laptop to the manufacturer's service center.
Bad Battery
If you have checked for all of the above, one of the main reasons, which could lead to the problem of laptop plugged in but laptop battery not charging is a bad or dead battery. Run a laptop battery test. If your laptop is quite old, this could be one of the most likely reasons. Get the battery checked from the manufacturer and check if it has exceeded its predicted recharge cycle limit. It is important that you get the dead battery replaced immediately with a new one. Laptop battery troubleshooting will solve the problem.

Hope this will help.

My Acer aspire 4935 is not recognizing the AC adapter. When ever I shutdown the system and connects the AC adapter, it works and the charging LED lights up. Once I press the power button to boot the...

Problem description:The battery charges only when the laptop turned off. The battery charge LED lights up as normal and the battery gets charged to 100% while the laptop is off.
When the laptop is turned on, the battery charge LED goes off even if the adapter is still plugged in.
Possible cause:1. AC power adapter failure.
2. Battery failure.
3. Broken/loose power jack.
4. Motherboard failure.
Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solution:1. This problem could be related to a faulty AC power adapter. It's possible that the AC adapter doesn't provide enough power when plugged into the laptop. To find out if this is your problem, you'll have to test the laptop with another working adapter.Replace the adapter if needed.

2. There is a slight chance that you have bad battery. Test the laptop with a know good battery and replace the faulty one if needed.

3. The battery charge problem could be related to the power jack. Maybe the jack is broken or not making good contact with the motherboard. It is necessary to remove the motherboard and take a closer look at the power jack. Resolder or replace the jack if needed.

4. If the power jack is in a good working shape and new power adapter with battery do not fix the problem, most likely you have a faulty motherboard. Replace the motherboard if needed.

My acer aspire 5738g get full charged and run only 5 minutes after plug off.

Time to buy and replace the battery. The life of a battery is approximately 2 years with numerous recharges it depletes the life. Often better to run it mainly on AC rather than to charge it and use the battery.

It could be an AC adaptor issue.

It should boot when connected directly to the power outlet through the laptop adaptor. If it is not boot, then the adaptor might not be supplying the needed power to boot it up.

If it is possible, try to isolate the issue. Charge your new battery using another laptop. Then plug it in your laptop to see if it works. If it will work, then it is the AC adaptor of your laptop that is defective. If the charged battery still won't make the laptop boot, then there is something wrong with your laptop hardware. If could be a motherboard issue of your laptop.

Says plugged in not charging

Take out the battery and make sure you can turn on the laptop with just the AC Adaptor hooked up.

If you can then you know the AC Adaptor is good. Try another known good working battery in the laptop, if the battery charges then you know that the old battery is bad.

If the laptop doesn't charge with a know working battery or a new one then you know that the motherboard is bad.

Battery problem with the Aspire 300

I had the same problem once before. I bought a new battery but it did not help. I ended up having to install all the Acer speciffic software, i.e. empowering framework, ePerformance and most importantly the ePower Management software. Once I installed all that, my batt icon showed up and started charging. Before that it wouldn't even recognize the batt. Hope this helps.

Charging problem!

Simply put, your battery is broken. Lithium Ion batteries in laptops can have bad cells. Inside your laptop battery are numerous smaller lithium ion batteries about the size of a AA battery. One of these is bad, maybe a lot more than one. If you are very tech savvy you can dismantle the battery and using a multimeter figure out which cell has gone bad, then simply order a replacement cell online and solder it back on. If you're a regular user I would highly recommend you don't attempt this. I would suggest you check on ebay for somebody selling a replacement battery for your laptop. That would be the easiest and cheapest route.
