This is very simple... All you have to do is hold alt+F10 whilst the computer is booting. That will take you to the necesary menu and its straightforward from there. Have just carried out a reformaat of my 5610 with this method.
there is no option to restore factory settings on Acer notebooks, as when you first boot up your new notebook it prompts you to back up the system to cd or dvd's before loading any software.
You will need to lend a copy of windows and re install, but use your own product key code on the underside of your notebook, this is quite legal as you've paid for the keycode originaly.
Remember though all programmes pre installed will be lost
hi the above is not true ..i have restored many acer laptops ..its very easy to do ...start the computer up you will get the acer logo first then a black screen with a cursor in the top left corner (this only stays on for a few seconds .) when this screen (black screen with cursor) comes up immediatly press alt and f10 this will then bring up a screen that says windows system restore ..just follow the on screen instuctions the first one will be 4 options as to what you like to do ...you need to do complete factory restore (think its the first option) and thats it just follow what it does and asks you to do ..be aware that you will loose everything you put on the laptop ..that wasnt already there when you purchased it ..every computer has a original copy of the factory settings and windows hidden on the hard drive ..your computer will be restored to the brand new condition it was in when you bought it ..dont worry if it seems to take a while and doesnt look like its doin anythin.it is and can take anything from half an hour to an hour for it to do it all...the computer companys and fixers dont like you to know this but trust me ive done loads of acers this way ..and sonys and gateways ..the trick is is to no what buttons to press on start up to access the windows restore facility ..an acer is alt and f10 ...hope that helps.
